Squeaky hood

Over the last couple of weeks noticed my hood starts squeaking when I lower it or when I put it away also my petrol cap won't open from inside the car car is 07 plate with 20 k so it's not like its been about have extended warranty tried jct they said both issues are not covered if any body has any fixes your help would be gratefully recieved

Petrol cap - just get it open and apply some lubricating oil to the plastic catch. Works a treat. For two services (different garages) running got told it needed a new cable, even though it would only stick a couple of times a year.. Oiled it never had a problem.
