Some idle speculation for those that enjoy such things

Dr Bez at Geneva in March, at the same time as announcing CC100 would be launched at the N24, stated 2 new concepts are to be shown in August at Pebble Beach

Don't ask me any more info on this next bit because I can't reveal too much, but Vanquish Roadster is to be officially shown imminently, as in well before August. That;s the only thing I have any info on of any description

So with Rapide S, new DB9 & Vanquish coupes & roadsters plus V12VS all being announced before then, which means no imminent replacements for those cars, what will be shown in August ?

No.1 contender for me is the SUV

But after that, what else ? It's pure idle speculation but the only contenders I can think of are as follows

2) perhaps a new 'base' Vantage to replace V8V - that could be anything from a minor facelift or a new engine right up to a new new (well new new by Aston standards) shape - one assumes V12VS has plenty of life in it but there's no reason V12VS in the old shape couldn't run alongside V8 in a new shape, as Porsche have done for more than a yr with 997 turbo alongside 991 Carrera - that would leave room for a new shape V12V in a couple of yrs

3) V12VS R, but I think that's too soon and also, the fact that these were announced as new concepts in March before V12V Coupe was even known about makes me doubtful

4) that leaves the third possibility, which is a new sports car that doesn't replace an existing one. The possibilities for that are endless - a Vanquish S, a ONE 77 replacement (doubtful - those types of cars are only every 10 yrs normally), a low run rebody like V12 Zagato, a GT3 type car, a 200-300k strictly performance car, a base/entry level car to sit below Vantage - as I say, endless possibilities. I have at the back of my mind the rumours of a 640 bhp car - vanquish S IMO needs that kind of increase over regular Vanquish to make it viable, as would an out & out performance model

Interesting times......

I honestly haven't got a clue :-) Seriously, apart from knowing dates on vanquish volante (I said roadster in the post above, which was rather stupid of me !), I know nothing, not even speculation other than the rumours from a month or so ago about a 640 bhp car but that was sort of in connection with V12VS, as posted on here at the time

Oh but now I think of it, I did hear some speculation a while back that vanquish volante would have no top rail to the windscreen, which sounded a bit odd ?

I guess a V12 Zagato S would be an easy "parts bin" car to manufacture?

Zagato has been dreadful for them sales wise the last time I heard and a very hard sell, so I don't think so, unless it's done as a roadster maybe ?

A V12V GT3 would be my preference but I don't think there's much chance of that frown

My wild guess is that the CC100 was just the first, these are two more exclusive AM/customer joint projects in the pipeline, mostly funded by a private collector-investor in the same way.

As such, they will be either one-offs or very limited-run, from the One-77/CC100 design team using the proven VH structure underpinnings... the inevitably still sky-high cost mostly financed by individuals on the back of virtually guaranteed desirability and therefore future value, excellent for the image and PR, encouraging for shareholders, even the accountants have nothing to worry about. angel

Hope so, a modern SC could unleash massive potential from the V8 if heat issues are thoroughly handled, as seen elsewhere.

Don't want the V8 downsized for emissions bcensoreds though!

Maybe a production version of that Rapide Estate concept? That is a good looking car.

On a serious note, if they made the Cygnet as a proper little hot hatch with a smokin engine it might have some merit...but as as a stty little Toyota with a new front bumper and a nice interior at 3 times the price they're taking the piss.

that's a very good call. they do look like they are considering it, though as the bertone car was launched at the same time as the announcement of 2 concepts in august, may be a little early to see it this year ?

Ah, yeah true.

They could get it out as a short run via a body shop like Zagato, but then it would be far from a mainstream model.

I think the Rapide S estate and a Zagato roadster are the best bets.
