The exact opposite for me, Steve. The more understated the better smile

Unlike the effect of the V12 Vantage S grille and it should be easy to convert any Vantage to that really. Chiltern Aston offer the mesh; black it out and this grille finisher will just bolt/screw/stick in. Quite nice and easy to change colour depending on mood or event.

Rapide S grille I like a lot oddly. A a lot of road presence yes

The betting is now open to predict George's preference.

Odds are fairly short.

DB9 Volante in Pentland green with lashings of wood veneer. All other cars are utterly awful/chavvy yes

I am quite content with the evolution of design .
There are Ferraris and Lambos for those that want more radical design.
For me as a driver of a DB9 that I consider a GT I would like,in future models, more boot space, more storage inside the cabin,a quality sat nav. better fuel consumption and if pos a bit more legroom at the back.

No, just white, matte or chrome effect cars. And cars with carbon fibre bits that aren't needed in any way except for trying to make it look sporty/Halfords-esque.

Oh gosh, I agree.

I was hoping George, that you would give your opinion on the CC100 grill / aperture.

My reason is (I forget the exact words) but it was intimated that this grilleless design might appear on future Aston Martins.

I far prefer the standard grille. I don't mind it on the CC100, but an Aston has to have it's iconic grille for me.

Agreed! And with Mikey too. Why lose an iconic shape that still looks good?

For me it's more about keeping the distinctive outline rather than the grille itself. But perhaps it can be an option on future models - CC100 grille or the classic one.

yes I think a radical change would be a disaster for AM
In my living memory (just), I saw what Triumph did with the TR range when they introduced the TR7. It was a radical change from the preceeding 2,3,4,5, & 6 models (plus a few 'A's in there too),,,what an unmitigated disaster it was, looked nothing like its truly iconic predecessors, more like something from the Fiat factory, the sound of the death knell for the marque was deafening. soapbox

I think the styling had very little to do with its demise.
Try poor quality
Try poor workmanship
Try standing still with antiquated practices when Germany and Japan were moving into the 21st century.

Wait til the Mondeo comes out. I'm in LA at the moment and the Mondeo - I think called the Fusion here is EVERYWHERE. So many of them and 2 friends here - one local and the other from Canada had both been talking about getting Astons, both now are looking at Maserati's instead saying the Ford has ruined the Aston for them. Right or wrong, people are having this reaction...

But how shallow does one have to be not to buy an Aston because a mundane saloon has a vaguely similar shaped grill biglaugh

p.s. How many know that this isn't the first time this has happened? It's often said that Ford UK copied the Aston Martin DB2 grill for the Ford Zodiac/Zephyr in the mid-50s scratchchin

Oh yes, of course, that too. Looking back Guycord, which model would you choose,,,I doubt very much it would be the TR7,,,,,looked like the designer was working from the front to the back but ran out of time/interest just behind the seats. Wouldn't you just hate to think that in a 'desperate' attempt to be radical, AM could do such a thing.

Very good spot.

Most of the big manufacturers seem to change their front grille designs quite frequently. BMW is probably one exception. It probably won't be too long, before Ford become bored with their current look.

What next? Perhaps a Rolls Royce grille might encourage customers to buy Fiestas.

According to the web, the TR7 was the most successful of the TR's with about 143,000 sold, the TR6 was apparently 2nd with almost 92,000 sold.
