Traction Control with no throttle input. Clarification req.
Discussion
So one thing I've noticed more and more often now I'm comfortable finding the limits of the DB9 is the traction control light constantly flashing in corners even when there is no throttle input. It seems to happen even when the grip is there in abundance. I just wanted to clarify (as I'm a non-mechanical techie) what is going on, i.e. is the car detecting slip and applying braking to corners indepentantly? I'm used to other cars where the TC only kicks in with a bit too much right foot, rather than lateral loading.

What is traction control Doug, In the V12V (would need clarification in a DB9) it is DSC, Dynamic Stability Control and will look at all forces and apply braking if there is slip angle in cornering etc etc, not just right foot issues. However, you would need to be leaning on the car very hard to see this happen, so I would get it looked at as that does not sound right.
I drove woolders DB9 (that is obviously worthless now) in very slippery conditions around the black forest and the lateral loading did not set off the TC light.

Thanks, I think I will get it checked as it is very early (in my opinion) in kicking in. Probably went off several hundred times on the way home last night. I don't 'think' I'm driving like a moron, but that is of course a possibility. One test is to turn it off I guess and if I end up in a ditch then the DSC was obviously doing it's job ok in the first place, lol.

I only ever see the TC light flash under acceleration, never noticed under cornering. Perhaps I should try harder me thinks

might be worth a geo check as well camber changes under corner loadingOne test is to turn it off I guess and if I end up in a ditch then the DSC was obviously doing it's job ok in the first place, lol.
Mine has started doing something similar, I'm not losing grip so it can wait until it goes to BR

There are 2 Geo settings for the DB9 - perhaps OP's is set at Sports
Cheers. Is geo something that the dealers should be able to check under warranty or is that a little more specialised? The last time I checked with my local dealer they had a 6 week wait for any servicing or warranty slots!!! (Harwoods Chichester)There are 2 Geo settings for the DB9 - perhaps OP's is set at Sports

I use my local guy - Buckley Tyres - but anyone with a Hunter Machine should be able to do it.I was charged £100 to get it to the original settings but as Mikey will attest it was way out and took the guy ages to get it back in

I'd not recommend a dealer doing geo go to a specialist not sure who to suggest in your area Micheldever Tyres?
Geo is not normally covered under warranty unless they have to replace parts that require it resetting.

How old is the car, what mileage? When did it last have rear tyres?

Reg 06/2008 - 16.5k - Rear tyres about 12k (1 year) ago IFAIK.I'd not recommend a dealer doing geo go to a specialist not sure who to suggest in your area Micheldever Tyres?

This sounds like a numpty thing to say but I haven't checked the pressure since getting from the dealer (4 weeks ago) so I'll make that my first check in case something is awry. Wouldn't be the first thing the dealer missed.
I'll look for a local specialist.

TPMS will tell you if there is a pressure problem ??This sounds like a numpty thing to say but I haven't checked the pressure since getting from the dealer (4 weeks ago) so I'll make that my first check in case something is awry. Wouldn't be the first thing the dealer missed.

If you do the geo, make sure your tank is half full - I forgot and they had to put weights in my boot

If there is a difference between two on an axle it can screw with the handling but not trigger TPMS
OP check the pressures (when cold) and get the geo done by a local reputable tyre specialist who has 4 wheel laser kit and has done AM's before.
As askjockman.com advises half a tank of full and some weight in the drivers seat
The guys doing it should know about this!
Shouldn't be more than ~£100

It will be interesting to see what the wear is across the whole tyre - could be some tell-tale signs. If there is a difference between two on an axle it can screw with the handling but not trigger TPMS

I got most of my £100 back when I sold the guy's weights on ebay

you got a bargain with the work he did as well!I got most of my £100 back when I sold the guy's weights on ebay
Forgot to say I doubt the OP's car has ever had the geo done after it left the factory (much like yours!)
Cheers for the input, I'll check pressures tonight.

They are down the road from me so I've bunged them an email with the info and asked for a quote. I'll let you know how I get on.
