So getting prepared to go out in the Vantage again this morning I thought “Oh no, here I go again having to drive that car, it’s SUCH an embarrassment, everywhere I go in it attracts so much attention!”

I picked up the ECU thinking “Wow, such an embarrassing name for a box of electronics that start a car – what will people think?” and walked onto the drive.
The sun was shining and as I looked at the car glowing in the morning sun, I thought “Wow, what an embarrassment, here I have a car that can’t decide whether it wants to be blue, silver or just stand there glowing in the sun…… and fancy having a colour called after a weather phenomenon... “

I pressed the button and saw the lights flicker in that kinda embarrassing way, then pulled the door handle (such a strange handle, god I wonder what other motorists will think), sat down on the embarrassingly comfortable seat and took in the smell of leather (again) wondering if I’d sooner have the usual plastic you find in many other cars…. So much less embarrassing!

I put the ECU into the slot and fired the car up. Strange, it started first time just like it has since day one! The engine roared into life and I thought “what an embarrassing noise that is, I wonder why it has to sound like it does, so right, so unique, why can’t it be like all the other cars on the road?”

Anyway, putting such thoughts behind me I selected first gear and drove off, being very conscious of the engine noise along the street in case anybody heard me and twitched the curtains to have look. I pulled into the main road and saw other drivers looking at my car – obviously they were taking in the embarrassing shape, the embarrassing noise, the colour maybe even. Were the looks they gave admiring, or mocking though….. it’s so hard to tell isn’t it?

I had to pull up at traffic lights – oh god no, that means pulling away in an embarrassing way, leading the pack off the line! Oh how I cringed at my embarrassing choice of car…..
Some youths going to school pointed and gave me a thumbs up – they obviously recognised how embarrassing it is to drive a car like this and were encouraging me to keep my spirits up…. I mean how embarrassing it is to drive an Aston like that in public view! I wondered if they were saying “poor sod, some of those cars have paint problems you know!” to each other…….

I got to my destination and parked the car in a distant corner of the car park – god how embarrassing it is to get out of such a car, isn’t it….. Then as I walked away a stranger said to me “God that’s beautiful mate…. I’d give me eye teeth for one like that”….. strange I thought, he didn’t; mention paint bubbles once in that sentence!
I looked back at the car and thought “Wow, such an embarrassment driving an Aston, isn’t it?”

So, what embarrassing moments have you had in your Aston today - distract yourself from the other thread for a moment and take refuge here! smile

An extract from an email I recently sent to some mates in our "clique"

My old nail is at BR having a few bits done following pheasnatgate:-

"Pheasant actually smile

Windows realigned to stop xxxxxx moaning.

Drivers door realigned as its catching slightly on the wing

Water in passenger door

Squeaky brakes

TBH it's a bag of ste, may as well scrap it.

Aston SUK

No ways aston do suk big ones lol u suk nazi sypathiser suk wiv rose tinted suk specs lol

T'was truly terrible driving back from the Trinity meet last night after chatting with like minded owners, roof down, heater on full blast, heated seats on and no paint bubbles anywhere.

Actually, there really was no 'suk lol' at all, which was nice. In fact, there never is. Aston build characterful, beautiful, hand built, low volume cars in Britain. I like that smile

And thanks to Garlick for closing the previous thread; it, and the original poster, had been tedious for quite a while yes

Why not volunteer at a psych ward? Or any form of asylum for the metally disadvantaged or socially vulnerable?

I'm busy the next few weekends, got BSB at Knockhill this weekend, then a trackday and my mate racing at Donington the next. I should be free after that smile

I'm embarrassed to be an active contributor (welcome or otherwise) of a board which includes members who use the expression 'lol'

I obviously have a sense of humour bypass but I just don't get it

As I see it, if the comment isn't humorous enough for people to realise it's a joke without adding 'lol' at the end, it's simply not funny. If it's meant to re-assure readers the comment is sarcastic, then it misses the point of sarcasm. To me, it's rather like an impressionist who needs to tell you who it is they are doing an impression of

Someone please enlighten me - I'm patently missing something
