Best iPod for an 08 Vantage
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm very chuffed to say I will be picking up my 08 Vantage very shortly and I have an iPod question.
The connectivity is all there and it's with the Premium stereo however I wondered which people recommended - the iPod touch or the classic style iPod? I run the latter in anotehr car but I wondered what established AM owners recomended.
Thanks in advance

I have a Parrot MKi9100 system installed in my 07 V8V. I have an ipod classic plugged into this in my glove compartment and it works a treat. The reason I chose this is because it has 160gb of space I can fill it with loads and loads of music plug it in and leave it and forget about it.
However, I have control of my iPod via another controller. If you need to use the controls on the actual iPod, then a touch would be better.

Screw the iPod and just plug a USB drive in.
I'm using a pair of 16GB ones, designed to stay in a laptop permanently, so they don't stick out much into the armrest compartment. One has music for me, and one for general consumption
A bit like this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/451446-sandisk-fit-16gb-usb-...
A folder in the USB stick works the same way as an iPod playlist, but the iPod interface isn't really any better.

But with an iPod you can also search by artist, album, playlist, song etc whereas to replicate that sort of organisation on a USB thing you would need to have loads of folders with replicated music. I've never bothered with the search. Changing playlist is easy enough on the go, but searching for a song is a bit trickier.Fair point though.
On the other side, USB sticks start up quicker, and you don't have to worry about leaving them in the car, or them getting flat. I have a nano too, but only used it a couple of times.

Does anyone still use a pure iPod in their car anymore
I just use the 32 gig? capacity on my iPhone rather than the 160 gig on my classic which I agree is the best around.
I just use my iPod. Never use my phone for music in the car. Have 2 iPod classic 160gb, one for each car so I don't have to bother swapping around I just use the 32 gig? capacity on my iPhone rather than the 160 gig on my classic which I agree is the best around.

My music library only takes up about 20 gig so my phone is more than ample. And it's my tracker tag.
And it's my phone....obviously

My music is around 70gb. Plus I have videos/TV shows/movies on my phone which take up space. Plus I don't have to mess about plugging my phone in each time I get in the car, and can still play on my phone when stuck in traffic. And it's my tracker tag.

They were on the One Show the other night and they still play them on the radio down here in southern Spain. Bit of a time warp going on here, a bit like being stuck in modern day Lancashire
You can't really comment about Lancashire when you're from Scotland. That really is backwards!Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
