Had a drag race with a M3....and lost
Were you running to the red line in all gears. It may just be the sound recording but it sounded as though you were changing a bit early. Then again, those M3s are damn fast. The M3 driver may have arrived at the finish line first but you definitely arrived in more style

No you're right, the video is a little unfair as I did short shift a bit. I've got too much mechanical sympathy. Where I really lost out though is with my lazy gear change, it takes me a good second to shift from 1st into 2nd whereas if you listen to the M3 (SMG box?) the engine note changes almost instantaneously. The M3 driver may have arrived at the finish line first but you definitely arrived in more style
What I need is a V12. That'll show him

Or a sport shift gearbox by the sound of it. What I need is a V12. That'll show him

Either a V12 or a twin plate clutch and lightweight flywheel in your V8. Not much in it on a 0-60 sprint between a V12 and V8 so the clutch lightness and faster shifts would be the biggest difference to a good time. What I need is a V12. That'll show him
Plus taking it in each gear until you see the red lines. That is the sort of mechanical sympathy these cars need
not having the use of my Mercedes has "forced" me into driving my DB9 every day for the past 6 weeks. I had forgotten what a wonderful car the DB9 is ......went past one of those Jag F-Type thingies this morning, you might as well drive a Mitsubishi Evo 6 .........dosne't do it for me. I also realise that I would be making a big mistake if I moved towards an Italian job ( thought about a 599 for a while)
I drive a 9 year old DB9 and it still looks glorious and has been totally reliable which is more than I can say for my SL500 which has been broken for last 6 weeks.

Just got into work after 2 hours driving around Surrey and Hampshire, in the Swallowfield office today which is only 12 miles from home so took the long cut.
Done the open bypass valves mod for the exhaust and the noise is truly stunning. I really must drive it more often.
Might POHE as its Friday for a bit more of the same

I've done nothing with mine as my wife declared she'd like to drive it. She's just comuting to Leeds and so I thought why not let her enjoy the Aston. After a quick lesson on the buttons off she went. She knew I'd be concerned and phoned to say she'd parked up and all was safe...Phew! Same again today. It's insured so why worry?
Arrived in Seville after three nights in Granada. Lovely run on the small roads through olive groves and villages. Valet Parker took the car away IATA reception and when I checked to see it was ok I loved to see his "bad parking thread" type parking taking up two spots. He is definitely going to get a nice tip!!!! Car running well despite being packed to the gunnels. Set off for Salamanca on Sunday!
Picked the DBS up from Works. Was very pleased with the car but now am over the moon. The guys at Works sorted out a front wheel wobble and a judder that you could feel through your arse at 60ish. Turns out to be wheel balance all round despite supplying dealer having balanced everything. Anyone out there with a wheel wobble/ judder ? Then Works have a balancing machine that applies road force to the wheel and will sort the problems WITHOUT resorting to a CCM balance procedure. I believe Woollie got his sorted recently in the same manner at Works too. They also even fixed the blocked washers that the car was delivered with
One very happy contented DBS owner thanks to Martyn and the boys at Newport Pagnell
