The rig may look a little OTT but it means the camera is moving at exactly the same speed as the car. This allows the photographer to keep the lens open for longer and the subject (Vanq) remains crisp and in-focus.Whist the lens is open, everything else that is moving (independently or relative to the camera), i.e. the wheels and the scenery, will have an exaggerated blur effect. The wheels may only have gone through one rotation and the car would be travelling at a crawl, but having the camera fixed and a long exposure time creates a great sense of speed.
I don't doubt that PhotoShop was used in the images, but the movement effect you see is all 'organic'.
Clever stuff.
PS I know this because at the start of my advertising career I went on a shoot with Toyota.

This is extraordinarily mild compared with many of the exploits in this thread, but I've only had my '06 DB9 Volante for two months...
I had the afternoon off and had an insatiable desire to drive what has become known in our household simply as "The Car," so I found an excuse to go to a shop about twenty minutes from my home.
The road home passes through two roundabouts, and I was stuck behind a massive pickup truck which crawled through them at around 15 mph. Thereafter, however, I have a one-mile straight with good visibility until I have to make my final turn to my home.
I followed the truck for about 1/4 mile at 30 mph, but then I saw a completely open lane with nowhere for the police to hide. I pulled into the other lane, kicked down a gear, slammed the accelerator to the floor, and for ten seconds or so unleashed all the fury of hell as every horse under my bonnet exploded into life. Before I knew it I was doing 90 mph and had reached my turn! It was truly one of those "Holy $#!+" moments, with the combination of sound and oomph overloading every sense I possess.
I looked back and the pickup truck had pulled over to the side of the road!
In more than 40 years of driving, that pass was my most memorable moment in a car since a girl called Debi longer ago than I care to remember...

Built and fitted the remote exhaust valave switch as originally designed by triple5
Configured it so that the default is valves open but I now have the option to shut them if I want to run "quietly" such as early starts, although the neighbours have said that they like being woken up by the Aston!
The low speed noise is addictive and well worth an hour to put it together and fit.
