Congratulations !!!!
Thanks, it's been a long time coming (over 25 yrs together).
Car attracted equal attention to the electric BMW plugged in nearby! Was lovely that the sun came out for a chilly spin home along Brighton seafront

Sounds like a simple case of wheel speed sensor to me. You would have been able to continue your journey and have it repaired at your convenience. The AA man probably did not realise how to plug into the diagnostics to confirm it, and probably didn't want to do a wheel sensor anyway.
Unfortunately it was not as simple as that, I had parked the car in my driveway and the next morning the car started okay but was throwing up 3 x messages (ABS/DSC Service, Traction Control Temporary off & Emergency Brake Assist Failure) but although it would start the real show stopper was that is would not allow me to select reverse gear using the dash mounted Reverse button (my car is a Sportshift). So could not reverse the car out of the driveway.Well obsession continues. Still trying to get to a finished state with my custom Zagato interior:
