So what have you done with your Aston today?
Discussion
Having lived with a boot lid that was reluctant to stay upright I got new struts and made a short video showing the before and after. The fitting just requires a small blade flat head screwdriver (I used an electrician terminal screwdriver) there are two clips per strut and a slot to insert the screwdriver. Use a finger to stop the clip bouncing off the strut. Once off the struts just pull off (make sure boot lid is supported or fully upright). The new strut just pushes on no need to take clips off.

Well that was 66 seconds of my life wasted!! I thought the video was going to show the replacement process - it's only 33 seconds long as a video but I watched it twice, thinking I had missed something! http://youtu.be/1kmsKnYhcZU

Anyway, glad you got it sorted - had exactly the same thing with my V8V and it's embarrassing getting hit on the head when you are trying to get golf clubs out... not to mention annoying. Dealer replaced under warranty but this is the sort of job a short video would give everyone the confidence to tackle.

Thanks for posting. You can see the increased resistance. On the series 2 DB9 they resolved that particular design fault.http://youtu.be/1kmsKnYhcZU
I think they changed the hinge design as well, to stop the slamming problem.

It is so easy to do it didn't seem to require instruction. I just wanted to show the difference between the old and new so if someone else felt they had a problem they could see.
I also wanted to use iMovie to stitch two videos together.
After one year, approximately 10,000 miles on Project Tea Spoon ( for those few who don't know the car, 4.3 to 4.7 GT4 engine conversion with all the performance trimmings done by BR) my car went in for a service this week. The car runs as well as the day it was built by BR and I am an extatically happy owner. I love my car

Horrible day weather wise but hopefully better tomorrow and pics to follow.
And a hello to J12 MOC - hi Martyn and Monima, it's Robin the big chap with big car from Alpine South. I am blaming you for enticing me towards Aston Martin ownership !

It's Frankie's former car, a lovely V8S SP10 coupe with only 2700 miles. It's a beauty and both Frankie and this forum were a huge help in helping me decide.

Now just ordered an ODB reader so I can reset the "rear brake pads are low" message
FYI but that's not a ODB code. That is directly related to the state of the sensor. So it looks like you will need to replace it after all.RSK21 said:

Hi Robin well done. I hope your Aston experience will be as enjoyable as mine is. Bit of a contrast to the Monster Merc eh? Mona sends her love.Horrible day weather wise but hopefully better tomorrow and pics to follow.
