Re-finished my HRE's on TeaSpn to Satin Grey at Pristine Wheels - very happy. No more brake dust yes

Sadly it was Bangor for a funeral..but tell the impostor to leg-it!

Will its a fab colour and a lovely job but is it too stealthy? Contrast? Like it though!

It is a fabulous road Mikey - just take it v slow in certain places - its in all the mag shots and then you have that serene Llyn Clywedog (lake) view half way through. Staggered how the Rapide chomps through it - was fabulous enough in Integrales and Imprezas but the big girl loves it too! I am so lucky.

There is talk of arranging a weekend...

Hi Paul, yes that was me. They were just starting to work on the oily bits of your DBS as I picked mine up. Does it drive any differently following the new tyres and geometry re-alignment?

I made a trip to HRE, Vista Califonia. I wanted to design my own wheels and have them make them. That's the short story. It was great visiting them, very nice team. The legal testing for safety of wheels meant they could not simply put my wheel design on the CNC machine and hand over a new wheel design to me, the USA regulations meant $$$$'s needed to be paid the get approval. What I ended up doing was redesigned their existing (I think M or P45) wheel, I wanted a smooth flowing transition into the hub (not the steep step like pot-hole, I wanted it rounded and flowing in profile to match the body characteristics of the beautiful Aston body. Also a matching concave billet cap to match the concave curve. I really dislike that wheels have centre caps.
My wheels are therefore unique and not marketed by HRE. I have not really shared this before, I had planned to do a whole long PH post on the massive build of TeaSpn but was not sure in the end people were too interested, so I never got round to it.

That's fascinating Will! Such an eye for design detail (given your industry!) and in creating something so bespoke for a car that gives you pleasure. I really get your design cues and changes. Enjoy just that bit more!

They do look very cool. I noticed and had to ask. I can't wait to see the full story, maybe Grant might want to put it in the next edition.... smile

Will... seeing your baby from meet to meet and something changing every time... the wheels are amazing but then the thought that went into the interior!! tell the full story.. with pics! pretty sure everyone would like to read :-) AWWWW YEAH!

Hi Rich
Initial plans are to drive it. A lot!
It has FIVA papers dating back to the 60s so I'd like to put it back to that race spec. I'd love to run it in Mille Miglia but budget-wise that's a few years away! I'm definitely not looking to restore it back to shiny factory spec as it has the most amazing patina of age and a restoration would kill it IMO

As you say it does appear to have a lovely aged patina to it and from the photos it doesn't appear to have any of the bi-metallic corrosion often seen as a result of the ali' being wrapped around steel formers. Mille Miglia would of course be a great event but I've heard that to get an entry these days you need friends in high places as well as a big wallet. Good luck with the car, post some pics as you get on with it. smile

What a fabulous project Ant - all the best with it and do keep us posted.

My mini project today was to delight the wife by procuring two new fireside ornaments for her - to hold dried flowers and reeds etc.



The left one is called Crackle and the right one Pop shoutbouncethumbup

Two small pieces of stainless steel have taken their place on the car and all for a very modest outlay indeed as I really swerved the Aston tax!
