It was mothers day here in NZ. The family went on a road trip to Russell for the children to take their mum out for lunch. The trip was 120km of mostly very seriously twisty roads winding though dense bush and then up the coast. The wife and I played chase, it was a great day. The Aston was too much car for quite a lot of the road, and the Elise would just nip away from each corner. As soon as the road opened up, it was back in the Astons favour. Somehow even though she's not my mother I still end up picking up the bill.
That looks like a proper day. None of this kicking tyres lark.Omaruk said:

The V8V hadn't been out for about 3 weeks so when my son came round we decided to take it for a 40 minute spin around the N Wales/ Chester ring road with the hood down. Son in charge of the music with his phone plugged into the aux socket and spotify connected.

Drove from benicarlo to soria in Spain avoiding toll roads, absolutely amazing roads, did not see another car for miles. Hair pin bends through the mountains and then straight undulating sections across the plain (is that the correct spelling ) generally a steady drive but the sound as we pulled out to pass the odd lorry was amazing. First time I have really floored it with purpose, when you know you need to get past before the next bend you tend to be a bit more aggressive with the right foot. 260 miles today has brought the mileage upto nearly 18k, still low for an 06 db9v I will have to come to Spain again. Santander tomorrow and home Friday, Neil

Nice trip it seems!
Holland was officially the warmest country in Europe last weekend. Miracles still happen
So took the V12VR out for a spin and I almost dont dare to say it....but I wore my cap backwards and someone snap a pic of it. So juvenile
I was briefly in Holland on Sunday, well Schipol airport on my way back from Switzerland having spent 3 days there. The weather was pretty damn fine too in Basel and Lucerne.Holland was officially the warmest country in Europe last weekend. Miracles still happen

Ok so not my car, but here is a picture I snapped of a lovely V12VS right outside Les Trois Rois/ Cheval Blanc in Basel just before we had lunch there. Three star Michelin - Certainly one of the nicest meals I've had and quite probably the most expensive too!

Yesterday afternoon, and all evening! Washed, clayed, machine polished, autoglym super resin polish, autoglym extra gloss protection, and a coat of wax for good measure. Shiny
That's brave!Looks superb.
Wouldn't mind trying a bit of machine polishing myself.
Detailer's will tell you it's a dark art - is it really that difficult?
Badge came with the car, I'm still a member (resource for information on NP Vanquish fantastic there)but the more I looked at front of car the more I felt the appearance was spoilt by the AMOC badge.
Dark art - that is a rotary polisher - wouldn't touch car with one of those! With a decent random orbit (Dual action)polisher, the nature of which generates far less heat than a rotary polisher, considerably easier. A BUT. Like any DIY compared to a seasoned professional, it will take 4 times as long and will probably not be as good a finish. I can easily remove light swirls (how do they get there, car never sees anything but 2 bucket and lambs wool) but anything more challenging I would leave to professional. It is quite amazing what they can do. On an endnote, I do find it immensely satisfying.
