There I was heading on the M23 towards Peas Pottage traffic pretty light, pass a police car parked up watching the traffic up by Crawley. Pass him, 5 miles later see all is clear, one car poodling in the inside lane, Audi A5 passing him in the middle lane. I can see a clear road foot goes down 70,80,90 suddenly I see the Audi pull into the outside lane and gently brake.

Wtf so I slow down to match his speed. Low and behold sitting slightly further up police man with speed gun.

Well spotted Mr Audi and thank you.

Of course you mean kph and not mph, don't you. You don't want to incinerate furious yourself now do you.

Because luckily he read the earlier thread about changing the speedo from mph to kph and was "checking to see if it worked" smile ... Officer cop

Isn't the speedo in a TVR just a rough guide rather than an accurate measure of actual speed?

I hate the M23 for this, it's the real hotspot for guns and unmarked cars, oh and now a 40mph average speed check. Makes for a great drivers road.....

Conversely it's almost like there is some unwritten rule that the police shall never populate the parallel A24 (my local road). In 15 years and probably half a million miles of driving I've never once seen an unmarked car or speed gun on the stretches below Dorking. That does make for some nice commuting. (Ignoring the rather obvious fixed cameras).

The police are always too busy at the Mickies stopping the bikes to bother with anything else near Dorking.

Indeed. I'd have extended that statement up to Leatherhead except that unfortunately a few years ago I 'got dun' going 94MPH (alas not KPH) on that (at the time empty) stretch. I was so shocked to see a copper on the A24 I don't think I even tried to brake.......
