It is interesting to read the comments about black, when it does appear to be the most popular colour with the new buyers.

Pre-owned dealer V8 Vantage cars at present are;

BLACK 35%
GREY 31%
BLUE 7%
SILVER 7%
I desperately wanted a 2007 MY Toro Red car but couldn't find one for love nor money when I was shopping so ended up with meteorite but with a obsidian / chancellor interior which really lifts it, I have no problem with black - but I don't think it shows the cars lines off the best - and a completely black interior feels cramped - again IMHO. I'd have a yellow V12S if I could biggrin
Kris I swear McGurks have an 07 in toro red right now! perhaps worth a trade in?
They have a Magma Red one but it is a 2010. http://www.mcgurk.com/Home/Car-details.aspx?ID=153

The other one, Toro Red, 2009 was sold ages ago, but did have nice sport pack alloys on it.

Trade inyikes

I made an enquiry with a dealer last week, about a 2010... 4.7, up at £57k....

Offer on my car £23krolleyes.........mine is an 06 with 23k on the clock, same dealer had an 06 on his forecourt, with 35k, up at £38k

Apparently green isn't a good colour, and cars with sandstone interiors are very hard to shift....

It was actually a good experience...... It reminded me why I only buy and sell privatelysmile

Sorry yeah you're right, NEVER trade in. You'll lose way more than you realise.
£23k? that's a real Wee-wee taker!

What!
Oh dear, it is not miles per gallon, it is miles per clutch.

How is this possible?
Could your real name be Jeremy Clarkson?

Maybe you are doing something wrong.
Many many years ago my father in law was a taxi driver. I changed the clutch for him once. Afterwards he gave me a lift a few times and I noticed how he held the car everywhere on the clutch. I never changed another clutch for him and believe me he got through plenty!

They are out there! I saw two when I was looking for mine. I ended up with suicide black frown interior with nice red stitching and light coloured heading lining though.smile

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm now the proud owner of a V8 Vantage :-) I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent independent in the south west London area? Also I had the car checked over before I bought it to make sure there were no serious problems. I cant quite believe how thorough they were. Total cost to get it all fixed was estimated around £1300. However the car is still under warranty. This is what came up.....

Left hand drop glass misaligned.
Right hand seat belt frayed.
Door mirrors juddering.
Coin in ash tray requires new fuse..... Yes this really came up.
boot bolt cover missing.
boot hinge stops not connecting - need adjusting.
Wiper arms juddering.
Left hand door handle LED dim.
Nearside front shock leaking.
Rear speakers crackle ..... I really cant hear this.
Door strikers rusty.
Left hand washer jet blocked.

Does anyone have any idea what might be covered under warranty and what is not?

Also I've managed to connect My IPhone 5 via the Bluetooth connection however when people call me it goes straight to answerphone. Any ideas?

All help Very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Gaz, congrats on the purchase, sounds like you have a few things to sort though..
If I was looking for an independent in SW London, Trinity engineering would be a good start.
Where did you get the car from? If it has an AM warranty then most main dealers will try and help out as much as they can. They'll get paid for fixing warranty faults, so if you have a bit of a list then there may be a bit of goodwill thrown in, hoping that they may get your future business.

Thanks Gettoff,
V happy indeed. Smile every time I see it. :-) I bought it from a private owner in north London. The local Aston garage up there checked it over for me. I could go back there but its a bit of a pain to get to to be honest hence why I'd like something south west. I'll try the local Aston garage to see what I can get done on the warranty by the sounds of it and then maybe sort the rest if its a reasonable quote with them else go to Trinity engineering?

Again - massive thanks for all the help - All V new to me.

:-)

+1 - only ever had great service there, Tim and team know their stuff and the classic stuff they usually have floating around... cloud9

ETA - seat belt should be covered as it's a primary safety device, wing mirrors need some light oil - simple, fuse - pop down to halfords - also simple. The rest someone like Mikey will know the deal with warranty smile Enjoy!

Andy....not sure of your logic here confused

Part of the attraction of a P/x is the reduction on the purchase price which you negotiate with the Dealer.....hard !!

Plus, from my recent experience, you do NOT judge the selling process on a single quotation. I followed a competitive tendering process involving 5 Dealers and 1 Indy. The difference between the lowest quotation and the final figure was sizeable. It was a straight sale so I was not afforded the opportunity of negotiating further.

As for the colour....in the 'Dealer World', it is perfectly reasonable to bullst you about the colour. They will buy in low because of the lack of grey / silver in your hue......then sell on high due to the unique ghillies hue on your car....go figure smile

Some dealers do a sale on commission and I know that Grange charge around £3K. I'd expect £30K at least.on a car with a £38K forecourt price giving the dealer some profit after the prep and warranty.

My logic wasn't based on how much his car was, or how much he offered for mine...... It was based on the cost to change...
I had a figure in mind..... (Which I thought reasonable, and left him a nice profit on my car, based on the price of the similar car he had up at £38k)

His car was £57k
He had a similar car to mine...(but higher miles) up at £38k

In my head I had a figure of £25k to £26k to change...... Meaning that I'd hoped he'd offer in the region of £32k.... Leaving him £4k to £5k on my car after prep....

When he came back at £23k It was obvious that we'd get nowhere near it... So I didn't waste any more of his or my time on the mattersmile

But as I say, it was a nice reminder of why I never bother, with dealersyes
