That's one of my dislikes about driving an Aston, some people seem to have the view that the AM owner thinks they are superior to them and therefore believe the AM owner to be a complete tosser!

Can't think why!

Bit disappointed with you Michael .
You put up a very well reasoned objective post regarding the superiority of Aston owners then back down with a grovelling apology when a young upstart questions your words of wisdom. teacher

I like my Aston cos it's a bit cr@p... It has personality... It's not a 'tool' it's a toy. I always fancied a TVR but they were a bit too cr@p.... I like the 'Englishness' too... Oh and the fact that it is 7 years old now and I cannot find a car to replace it with...even one with a v12!!!

Having had two Astons and currently an XKR , which incidentally is a superb car, I am really disappointed by some of the comments on here, be it tongue in cheek or otherwise.

Doesn't show this forum in a good light and confirms many people's opinions on AM owners. That from someone who loved this place for years with every intent on returning.

By the way Michael.
I was looking forward to meeting you one day but in the light of the above old school motto ,well maybe it's not such a good idea.
However if you promise to control your homo-erotic tendencies I shall relent.

I don't think you should take a bit of light hearted banter to heart, it is refreshing to find people on here who don't worry about taking the rise out of themselves.

For the type of money you have to pay for an Aston, they're understated.

That's what I like about them.

You missed the bit where I said I've been contributing to this forum for years and know many of the posters here as friends.

I just don't like the sniping of other marques. Sniffs more of what you find on other forums.

Hey, not going to lose any sleep over it.

I would think very carefully about some the optimistic tributes to Aston Martin, is in reality, it is a compromised vehicle and very second rate under the skin. A wonderful body design but unfortunately it just does not have investment capability to carry the products forward for the current market. It is still living on past glories or myth. It drives very well for the era that Ford was involved. Since then the majority of improvements have been in the main marketing attributes. I am sure most of us buy the car for emotional reasons certainly not logic.

The general standard that has been pointed out in other threads, the major let down is in the general standard of the support in the dealer network with regard to servicing, warranty, handling of complaints by the factory.

Which all point to a lack of investment and cost cutting in attempt hold expenditure to tight budget which is understandable but this has been happening for some years. Although chasing rainbows with a product like the 177 where the money could have been better spent on improvements such as a decent gearbox, electronics etc.

Let us all hope the new investors take some interest in developing models that are at least comparable to more modern attitude to engineering excellence and the giving the marque some prestige rather than dwelling on the past heritage good though it is.
I am sure my comments in some areas will not be welcome but thats view that I see from experience. Will I buy again for the third time, probably but needs to be more improvements in the engineering quality.

To be fair LT, it is only from one person and everyone thinks he is a **** anyway smile

Don't worry about it. I have a V8V, but still love your car! I will go back to an XF one day, the XFR or XFR-S. I couldn't give a stuff what others think, mine is the only opinion that counts when purchasing my next motor.
