V12VS colour choices ?
Discussion
I'm looking at the various colour & trim options for my V12VS order. As this will be the first car I have had the chance to spec up, I was thinking of going a bit off the normal (Meteroite and obsidian black), with a light colour like morning frost white or bright yellow with everything blacked out (wheels, window surround, tail pipes etc.) I think it would suit the overtly sporting style of the car, not too sure about the interior yet but maybe bitter chocolate.
I'm not too sure about the lipstick grille treatment and the coloured roof / back panel.
What's everyone else with a car on order doing? I'm looking for some opinion and a few ideas.
I have pretty much decided on the new style wheels, lightweight seats, upgraded audio, alcantera steering wheel, front parking assist and rear camera.

The configurator makes it easy to play around with colours - if it's a daily drive then I'd spec something that hides at least light grime, but if it's for occasional use - bright yellow - or a custom colour (the orange / bronze on the latest 1 Series would look awesome on the V12 I think).

How about silver fox with black interior, coarse silver stitching, and black wheels, black trim .
Honestly Steven, you're such a kidder It's an Aston, it has overtly sporting pretensions... It would have to be one of the classic racing greens! Either California Sage, Aston racing green (as per the Le Mans winning DB9s) or something more modern; Hardly Green is lovely.

How about trying 'Aston Martin Green' with blacked out details? Like on this DBS:I'm not too sure about the lipstick grille treatment and the coloured roof / back panel.

I agree the colours you suggest are perfectly o.k.
I saw a DB9 in California Sage and it looked very classy.
I have seen an Aston in silver fox and it looked very good, different but not in your face.
The V12 VS is a fabulous, aggresive looking car and the silver fox with black details would suit it without being overtly flashy.
Not sure about morning frost ,it looks good but white is the 'fashion' colour of the moment and therefore a bit too obvious.

I've gone for a slightly 'off piste' colour combination that I hoped would make the car quite unique but hopefully not too garish either. After days of playing around with the configurator and googling aston colour combinations I concluded that I needed to see the new V12Vs in the flesh. So I head off to Goodwood festival of speed and spent some time admiring the new car in the metal. I'm personally of the view that the vantage does not photograph well and the car looks so much better in real life. Similarly I don't have much faith in the accuracy of the paint colours on the configurator - especially when considering the differences just by viewing the colour tones from iPad to laptop etc. bottom line is that you have to see this stuff in the tin so to speak. Unfortunately colour boards the size of piece of toast at the AM dealer don't help much either. What I did find helpful is this youtube video that shows a number of V12's together at an AM dealer in Newport Pagnell.

The upside of seeing the car in the metal at goodwood was how striking the black detailing on the wheels, window surrounds and roof / tail graphics packs and new grille of course. Much better than the pictures would make you think. And actually these are the key design details that differentiate the new model from the current one. Prior to Goodwood I was going down the hammerhead silver route with no graphic pack and standard window surrounds. Basically a vanilla V12 combo that you wouldn't differentiate from a current model. So it begged the question of "what's the point". This question was actually put to me by the AM guy that was supervising the car at Goodwood. His personal favourite is the red lion with black graphics pack.
However at goodwood the v12vs was parked next to the CC100 concept car - which is painted in a one off metallic green (or Sterling Silver as AM like to call it). This is further enhanced by a yellow front grille and lots of black carbon fibre. Standing back and admiring them side by side I concluded that the v12vs would look absolutely fantastic in the CC100 colour scheme. So basically that's what I have gone for: metallic green with yellow front grille, black wheels, window surrounds, graphics pack. Interior is lightweight black alcantara sports seats with fine yellow stitching to seats and dash. A nod to the old DBr9 also I guess. For sure it's not everyone's cup of tea but felt it sums up the Aston Experience perfectly for me - exquisite tailoring to my own personal specification. However I'm sure there's a reason why I'm not allowed to choose the colour of the sofa and pattern of the wallpaper at home so wish me luck.. May the force be with me!!!!

Well done - that's very similar to what I would have done as well Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
