Guys, I know this is going over old ground but i was reading so old posts on the satnav before upgrading to the 2012 disk and found refrence to an "Aston Martin" splash screen when turning on the sat nav. I don't appear to get this, when i fire mine up i get "please wait" then it goes stright to the maps. Any body have any idea why i don't get the splash screen or indeed if i should?

thanks

Sounds like you either have a Volvo disc in there or a copy. OEM provide an Aston opening screen for a second or two.

Don't think it's the disks as they are the original AM ones in the box set of three.i think the splash screen is a operation performed by the players firmware, it's like it's switched off some where in the player setting, but I can't find it!

You are correct, the splash screen is in the Firmware and using Volvo discs have no impact. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't. I have never looked into it to see if a shutdown will make it appear next time or whether if it shuts down automatically on engine off, it re-appears with the splash screen. I would not worry too much wink

As per what Cockerneee said - I have the HDD sat nav system and the splash screen only makes an appearance when it wants to. If there is a trick to getting it to show, I have not found it yet - just another of lifes rich tapestry as a result of owning an AM, but not one I would concern myself with if that helps.

Took me ages to work this out but the splash screen only comes on when the Satnav is left on in the up position and the car is then switched off and locked. The next time the car is started/ignition on it goes back to the up position and the logo is displayed..

With the latest discs it's really not *that* bad.

The graphics are clunky but the actual directions are OK. Well, it bests google maps at least.
