Following on from our recent Suffolk tour experiment where I only drove in the Auto Function (D) mode for the entire trip
to see what could be achieved regarding MPG, if driven sensibly and adhering to speed limits and road conditions.

Well that trip returned a satisfactory 24.1 mpg, which by all accounts is reasonable.

So off to the New Forest we went but this time I choose only to use the paddles, the D selection was not used just to
see what I could achieve.............well driving to sensible and legal rolleyes limits obviously at all times I was pleased
to see a return over the 706 mile tour of 24.7 mpg.

The Sports mode was used on and off pending the nature of the situation and the type of road we were driving on, by my reckoning
there's very little difference to be had between the 2 modes of driving if you are consistent in your approach and right boot.

I suppose our next trip should be to see what can or indeed can't be achieved when I spend a week just ringing its neck, that
should liven the Wife up a bit,I can hear the screaming now......hehe.

Anyone want to own up to bettering 24.7 then or have I now got a faulty trip computer to go with everything else thats broken, fallen off,
failed or has been dodgy from the get go............just call me sceptical, sorry thats all another story,a Wes Craven type story thumbup.

Last week drove from Hereford to the Channel Tunnel , mixed speeds , Pearl returned 28.6 mpg. After completing the Alpine Tour and sitting at the port that figure had dropped to 19.4mpg. I think that is not bad considering the speed we had been travelling at. Interestingly enough a friend in a 991 911 Carrera S who had been on the same trip recorded 17.4mpg . An AMG SL 55 had managed 11.6mpg ! I hope to God that Aston don't buy those engines!

If ever some smart arse asks some derisory question about fuel consumption my well rehearsed answer is to say that I have never bothered to check. That usually sends people away. Damned lie though!

Having put Pearl away I am now cooking Molly Roast Lamb with Garlic and. Rosemary. To accompany , roast potatoes, cauliflower , broccoli , French beans and sweet corn. All the while trying to consume the second bottle of the most God awefull wine I have ever tasted. It is so bad that I have put a dash of Lemonade in it. Still sitting in the garden watching a very happy Chris can't be so bad. After dinner I am going to clean Pearl's wheels!

Rob, you're not Robert the Bruce. Throw the crap wine away and open a decent bottle.

The rest of it sounds OK though. I too am on cheffing duties, it being the wedding anniversary today.

Decent wine will be involved!

I have managed to average 23.something on a 900 mile trip to Scotland earlier in the year, car is a 4.3 manual.
Where is the fun in that though? average at the moment is 16.4 driving

Ed, come along next week and we can work on the consumption issue smile.

Just a thought but whilst I was away I appear to have had Horse power issues....................

This basta*d was just about to set about my boot flip after snorting out on the exhaust gases after we parked up.

Managed to bugger it off and promptly witnessed it removing the wing mirror from a new Mazda Crossover......nono

Don't know about this horse whispering sh*t but it clearly understood an irate Aston owner when it met one.

My average for a 2,200 mile trip through Spain seems to have been between 11 and 12 mpg :-)
