706 Miles and 24.7 MPG returned.

You boys worry me sometimes, here's me running my own private fuel testing programme for the good of the planet.......
and you lot post up a downward spiral of consumption figures.
There's Jeff running a conservative 16.4,Woolders and Woolie posting figures of 13.8 and 14.6 respectively to which I think fare does
they like the spirited drive and are probably getting stuck in congestion.......
Then bang LD rocks up with an 8 quickly followed by Shrek's 11/12...........,now I do wonder if Shreks return has been hampered
by Spainish quality fuel in conjunction with a lot of gearshifts around his formidable journey.
But LD I'm lost for words really what a star.......... tell me how you manage that and keep a licence......
Well that completes my study I feel I clearly must drive harder, consume more and stop worrying about Robgt's Lamb and nasty Wine
crissis of earlier in the day.....

My average for a 2,200 mile trip through Spain seems to have been between 11 and 12 mpg :-)
I clocked 9 on the "Ducati" road in the Black Forest and most of it seemed to be downhill but 2k at 11 is in a different league, good effort Brian. Now check for a hole in the tank yeti said:
I'll happily own up to not caring what mpg I get
24 odd is probably better than our Land Rover though
Same here. Think I get around 16 though.24 odd is probably better than our Land Rover though
24.7 is about the same as my S3... and that has half the cylinders and less than half the capacity. Quite impressive how they managed to make it so uneconomical!

Following on from our recent Suffolk tour experiment where I only drove in the Auto Function (D) mode for the entire trip
to see what could be achieved regarding MPG, if driven sensibly and adhering to speed limits and road conditions.
Well that trip returned a satisfactory 24.1 mpg, which by all accounts is reasonable.
So off to the New Forest we went but this time I choose only to use the paddles, the D selection was not used just to
see what I could achieve.............well driving to sensible and legal limits obviously at all times I was pleased
to see a return over the 706 mile tour of 24.7 mpg.
The Sports mode was used on and off pending the nature of the situation and the type of road we were driving on, by my reckoning
there's very little difference to be had between the 2 modes of driving if you are consistent in your approach and right boot.
I suppose our next trip should be to see what can or indeed can't be achieved when I spend a week just ringing its neck, that
should liven the Wife up a bit,I can hear the screaming now.......
Anyone want to own up to bettering 24.7 then or have I now got a faulty trip computer to go with everything else thats broken, fallen off,
failed or has been dodgy from the get go............just call me sceptical, sorry thats all another story,a Wes Craven type story .
Begs the question Ed, which of the two modes do you prefer to use day to day? to see what could be achieved regarding MPG, if driven sensibly and adhering to speed limits and road conditions.

Darren we are all friendly, helpful and sharing kind folk on here................ so please feel free to offer me some discounts on some flights,no pressure.....
Ed In the good old days you could do things like get people discounts or upgraded but post 9/11 we are hardly allowed out of our bullet proof Kevlar door cockpits. Still at least I saw the sun this morning !!!!Y100 said:

Well its simple really I press a button with S on it then pull at 2 flappy paddle things behind the steering wheel and thats me now.Left in D I find it a bit sluggish leaving a heavy feel to the accelerator pedal, the Auto functions alright if you fancy it but its less than inspiring.
My 2 trips using different driving style's was just a bit of a lark to see what could be achieve by using the different options available, that said
both my previous Astons,V8V and V12V have returned around 22-24 on average if driven sensibly.
Just call me Speedy if you will.

Ed, I travelled from Southampton to Essex and used 1,200 litres in fuel at only 25 MPH all the way. Does that get the record for the least MPG
Don't think it beats Darren and his flying contraption but its a well worthy effort, you'll get a cake for that the next time I see you.Ed50 said:

Interesting Speedy, thank you. Not done enough miles in Vesuvius yet to establish a preference. I wonder which mode others use and if there is any mileage in doing a survey, which model and which mode,,,,what d'ya reckon Speedy.
