Interesting Speedy, thank you. Not done enough miles in Vesuvius yet to establish a preference.frown I wonder which mode others use and if there is any mileage in doing a survey, which model and which mode,,,,what d'ya reckon Speedy. wink
I think the consensus of opinion is that most people return mid teens, the more Jurassic among us may be plod along in the early 20's and then come
the Crazy Gang in the low teens.

The few that manage single figure returns deserve both help and a medal for their commitment and loyalty to BP,ESSO and a like.........hehe

Then finally comes me,I'm the guy holding up the traffic whilst my man servant walks in front waving his flag..........rolleyes

Average 12mpg but I live in the Highlands so no motorway cruising for me.
Aston, paddles every time. I also have a Merc and never use the paddles. No real reason other than paddles on Merc turn with wheel and are never were I expect them to be!
Re comment on sport button, I really see no difference although is it just in D it comes into its own?

Mind you I get better MPG from the Aston - my wife, and Friend of the Earth, despair.

For reference, your getting almost exactly what I get out of the Focus. Which a) makes me feel a bit sad and b) makes man maths a whole load easy.

Following on from our recent Suffolk tour experiment where I only drove in the Auto Function (D) mode for the entire trip
to see what could be achieved regarding MPG, if driven sensibly and adhering to speed limits and road conditions.

Well that trip returned a satisfactory 24.1 mpg, which by all accounts is reasonable.

So off to the New Forest we went but this time I choose only to use the paddles, the D selection was not used just to
see what I could achieve.............well driving to sensible and legal rolleyes limits obviously at all times I was pleased
to see a return over the 706 mile tour of 24.7 mpg.

The Sports mode was used on and off pending the nature of the situation and the type of road we were driving on, by my reckoning
there's very little difference to be had between the 2 modes of driving if you are consistent in your approach and right boot.

I suppose our next trip should be to see what can or indeed can't be achieved when I spend a week just ringing its neck, that
should liven the Wife up a bit,I can hear the screaming now......hehe.

Anyone want to own up to bettering 24.7 then or have I now got a faulty trip computer to go with everything else thats broken, fallen off,
failed or has been dodgy from the get go............just call me sceptical, sorry thats all another story,a Wes Craven type story thumbup.
In the interest of completeness and making fair comparisons Ed,,,we need to know if this mpg was achieved with the roof up, down, or neither up nor down. hehe

Funny you mention it but I'm currently analysing that myself as you do have to take these things into consideration with all seriousness.

The Suffolk trip was 80% roof down including the homeward motorway journey as the weather was pleasant and the wind velocity was moderate and
stable,it was only back at home on this trip that the roof remained nether up nor down in the infamous Sardine Tin position or as a Salesman would
put it in a unique selling feature position.

Now the New Forest trip was more 57% down if my calculations are true as unfortunately the weather proved a bit of a ster at times
with heavy rain followed by blustery showers.

Fortunately the wind speed was low although holding a slight chill in the early mornings. Now with the off set of weather conditions and based around
a higher overall mileage recorded by travelling further South and a Roof off spirited, yes spirited drive of 184 miles home to attend a pressing but
unexpected engagement I can only at this stage conclude that my findings would suggest over the two trips there can be very little difference to be noted.

I need to research drag co efficients a little more to get to a definitive resultant as I feel 26/28 mpg is obtainable if I slow down my searing pace and
can convince my Wife that she doesn't need to pack enough Shoes and Cloths to dress half the bloody Nation.

Well other things are still to be considered obviously to reach the definitive answer such as tyre pressure constants, motorway slip streaming and of
coarse route choice avoiding steep inclines, likely congestion points and above all the avoidance of Shoe or Handbag Shops.

I hope this gives you the insight and information that you are looking for and I do hope that The Big Red Machine will prove to be as equally as fugal in thirst.

Thank you for your interest in my on going and deeply interesting survey which I hope you have been fascinated by...................sleep

Town work between 12.4 And 14.3.

Long run can get 24 if cruising at 85 ish.

That's what computer says......to be honest I have never filled it and checked as it uses what it uses. I know it goes through loads and I don't want to smack myself by confirming how much biglaugh

Thing that gets me is when you look at instantaneous when off throttle going down hill, says about 34 mpg or something like that. Now that's an awful lot of fuel to merely keep the engine running. She does like a drink
