Received an invitation to the Aston showroom next month as there may be a one joining us in the not-too-distant future.

The conditions here are as follows: The weather is extreme. When it's hot it's above 40 degrees, when it's cold it is absolutely to the bone with snow for good measure. Flash rain too but there are days when it is just perfect. The heart of the city is often very busy during the weekdays (usual city peak hours) but a pleasure to drive around during the early morning and night. I am usually up by 5am so I'll get to enjoy while the roads are free of traffic. At night it is simply wonderful with an amazing backdrop and very easy to get outside the city for a serious hoon with smooth roads everywhere. I saw a stunning blue Vantage recently which inspired these thoughts.. (pics below, refreshing to see silver wheels these days).

My Aston history is brief but includes a Vanquish back in 2004 for a little under a year, then a V8 Vantage convertible for half a year. Didn't get to drive the Vanquish much due to travel schedule, but managed about 4,000 miles in the V8 which I really enjoyed. It's the only marque I've driven that gets the universal thumbs up EVERYWHERE you drive and not a single negative comment, which is always nice.

9/10 times I'd choose a convertible over a coupe as nothing beats a hard drive with the roof down. However having had a good look around a DBS that was parked at our apartment building I wouldn't say no to a coupe. There are no luggage, passenger or engine requirements and the car would be used 10% for running about and 90% for hooning, as it should be.

So which current Aston, which colour and why? Any reference pics would be lovely!

Black is shiny
Don't you know
Give it a polish
Off you go.

When it's shiny
It's the best
You'll look cool
Put it to the test

Ceramic Grey or Sparkly as it's more commonly known. Preferably in V12V guise smile

its a coupe because the roadster didn't exist when I bought it...
all my cars and bikes have been black for the last 20 years ...looks great when clean and saves me the bother of deciding on which colour to have each time wink

This ^^

The first owner of my car (Chiltern Green DB9 Volante manual) traded it in for a Chiltern Green DBS Volante manual. If that ever came to market, I'd hope I could buy it smile

Perhaps I am being slow, but the city you describe is clearly not London (as per your profile).

Your colour choice might therefore have a location context. Where are you now based? As you probably know, the majority in UK are greys, blacks and silvers. With Aston Martins here, we have traditionally chosen the understated colours, and leave the loud ones to Lamborghini owners.

Normally about a third of all the used Astons, for sale in UK are black. Many love them, and they do look beautiful indoors, but I would hate spending all that time cleaning. At least with the greys, they do continue to look clean when used.

Thanks for all the input everyone, much appreciated. This car will be over in Shanghai, home of the drab "don't-bring-any-unwanted-attention-to-yourself-lest-people-say-you-are-a-corrupt-government-official" coloured car. With this in mind it's always refreshing to see someone pick a bright colour for a tasty car. Having said that.. of the few Astons I've seen the colour breakdown has been as follows (not many shrinking violets:

V8 Vantage - Bright blue
V8 Vantage - Bright yellow
Rapide - Some sort of cascade blue/green/pearl (biblical depreciation on this, always give my neighbour the thumbs up)
DBS - Ice silver
DBS - Black
