The C63 has been mentioned a few times on various threads in this part of the forum so I thought I share my experience having owned a couple of Astons to compare against.

I’ve had the C63 for around 4 months and done 6000 miles, in every way it is an outstanding car. It is a nice comfortable luxury saloon capable carrying 4/5 adults in comfort, riding our stty potholed speed bump obstacled roads smoothly and eating motorway miles quickly, quietly and with ease.

However…press the sport button and then then the right hand pedal…OMFG what an unbelievable car. The torque from the engine is immense, like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I’ve had fast cars before but this is just in a different league. It just keeps going and going from 0mph to enough to launch you into space in the blink of an eye. And it does it so effortlessly. You have be careful though as you often find yourself well into three figures if you don’t watch the speedo.

Mercedes (or AMG) seem have the chassis and suspension sorted perfectly, firm and controlled but still comfortable. Handling is brilliant. I followed James Appleby in his modified Vantage on the second half of the last Aston run and was much, much quicker even through the bends.

It’s faster than my DB9 was and is both a better GT and more of a sports car, plus I can get 5 adults and their luggage in it.

Would I recommend it?, absolutely. Would I rather have a DB9?, every time.

Pros
•Engine - wow
•Engine - wow
•Engine – and wow again
•The noise
•Chassis – well balanced and comfortable, however you drive it
•Brakes - brilliant
•Comfortable – nice place to be on a long journey even for 5 people, and everything in the cabin just “works”. Sports seats are supportive but still soft.
•Well specced – brilliant sat nav, DAB, great sounding audio system as standard, command easy to use.
•Auto Gearbox – excellent and seems to intuitively know which gear you want when in sport mode
•Servicing costs – only £180 for my last service plus £70 for diff/gearbox oil at 40K miles, £350 for a big service.

Cons
•Thirsty – I get around 15mpg when pressing on, 18mpg on my drive to work – 10 miles mixed country/semi-urban, 22mpg on a run. Although to be fair I drive in Sport much of the time and that right pedal draws your foot towards it.
•It eats tyres - I’ve just replaced all 4, they had over 6mm on them 5k miles ago. Still they are only £175 so £100 cheaper than the potenza's I had on the Aston. Can highly recommend the sportcontact 5's though
•Manual mode on gearbox is not as quick as in other paddle shifts I’ve had, auto mode works much better.
•Took me while to warm to it, it felt a bit too good if that makes sense. Not now though I love it.
•You can’t help but drive it (very) quickly. I’m not a racer by nature but there’s something intoxicating about the way it goes.
•I miss my Aston

So in conclusion which would I rather have. Head says C63, heart & soul screams Aston Martin.

The C63 is going soon, not because I don't like it but because isn't my DB9.

Thanks for the appraisal just what I've been looking for, like all the plus points and my heads going in the sand on the neg's.

The Wife insists its to thirsty for everyday and around town use which with my sensible head on I would have to agree with, but there again
if the Aston continues to be a pain in the butt...rolleyes hey ho who knows.

A nice Estate version for the shopping and the dogs and a 3 litre supercharged F type for the hoon ,mmrh she gets the continued enjoyment
of roof off motoring and I get a 6.2 litre growler to lug the dogs about in........food for thought I would say.

Thanks again for the write up its appreciated as well as being highly tempting.....thumbup

Should've bought a 2002 Vauxhall Corsa and combined it with a 1992 Kona Cinder Cone push bike.

Anonymity is very underrated these days yes

Interesting write up steve!

It does seem like a beast but having sat inside a bog standard C220 and the C63, I know exactly you want an aston again smile

Coincidentally I bought a bike and took up cycling after nearly 30 years of not sitting on a bike at around the same time as I bought the C63. Ride most days including to work once a week.

Same here, matey....well I blew the dust off an old one. I cycle to work nearly every day but it's only 1.7 miles each way.

Hope your head is better and say Hi to that gorgeous wife of yours smile
