Looking at my engine bay Im slightly dissapointed by how basic the engine looks so I have decided to smarten it up a bit.

I have been looking at making carbonfibre coil covers and have been getting quotes for the mould work and unit costs. Each unit works out as about £230 to £250 each.

Is anyone else interested in these? If so I will get some prototypes made.

I dressed-up the underbonnet area just by replacing those rusty bolts with anodised aluminium and polished stainless fasteners.

I did the same underneath around the undetrays and inside the wheel arches when I replaced the air filters and front indicator bulbs.

At least I'll not need to worry in the future having to get them out with "mole" grips like I did the old ones as these physically cannot corrode, and they look nice.

I was considering doing the strut braces, front panel and the central cover on the engine in carbon, but as I dont show the car, I saw it as an unnecessary substantial expense.

So I'll probably do it when I have nothing else left to do!

I did the floor pan of the Noble. 675 stainless screws. The garage that took all the old ones out and waxy led it all suggested I never bring it back.......

I assume that was before you fitted the stainless screws?

I know I spent quite a while on some of my rusty ones with a set of grips trying to get them put. One put up such a fight, I had to grind the head off and then extract what was left once the panel came off.

Every time I pull those undershields off I decide to wire brush them and clean them. I did intend anodizing them but they are too big for my vat.

I think thats getting a bit OCD!
