Thor's thunderous transformation
Discussion
Wow, absolutely amazing. I’m not sure words can do it justice. My thanks again go to Mike and the crew at Bamford Rose for the evolution of Thor, God of Thunder.
The beast finally arrived at his new home by trailer on Friday night having been under the care of BR for the last 5 weeks. Mike will hopefully be along to give the finer details but in summary, high lift cams, remade manifold and 200 cell cats. Thor was used to trial remade OEM manifold. It was hoped to achieve a 40-45BHP increase from the package as opposed to 60BHP from their Pinnacle kit with new manifolds. I believe however that the final result is not too far away from the Pinnacle kit. I hope Mike will post the dyno results to show just how good a result was achieved. Red line increased to 7500rpm and the exhaust note is superb with bypass switch to control noise level as required.

I’d only driven the car for about 100 miles before BR got their hands on it, so it’s hard to be able to make a real comparison in performance change. I’ve no doubt however that it sounds better. Did a run to Whitby on Saturday and Thor was sublime. Just kept pulling effortlessly through the rev range. I think it’ll take a little while to explore the various sport and suspension settings. Also I’m still trying to get accustomed to using the TT2 and paddles having always used manual sports cars previously.
Met up with a mate who had a Fezza California for the weekend. Nice car but with both agreed the DBS was the one we’d choose to have. Thor easily held his own against the Cali and had a much better sound.
I know there are PHers who love what BR do and those that think why do you need to modify or change what Aston produced. For me it’s always been about making my cars as good as they can be both in performance and sound (within my budget of course). I believe there’s always been a little bit extra in these cars that hasn’t been unleashed by the factory or has had to be held in check (noise regulations etc.). Astons are great cars but I just want mine to be that bit better. BR has a wealth of experience with Astons and Mike has been able to offer me solutions to meet my requirements for the two Astons I’ve been fortunate enough to own. Once again I’ve not been disappointed and remain a happy member of the BRAS.
I respect the choice of those who wish to drive unmodified cars but would challenge you to go and drive a similar model that’s had the BR touch and I’m sure you’d be blown away the difference. Each to their own however, and I hope all of you lucky enough to have one of these fantastic cars whether modified or not continue to enjoy the experience. After a month without one to drive my smile has returned bigger than ever

A BR'd black DBS ,,,I get butterflies at the thought. The numbers please, the numbers.
It's actually Quantum Silver, just looks black on the photos. It is a very dark grey and lighting conditions make a difference to what it looks like.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
