Scarsdale NY Concours Photos
Discussion
Anyone interested in seeing a few photos from the annual concours held at the picturesque 'tudor' style village of Scarsdale, NY (Westchester County, just up a little ways from Manhattan) have a look here. Love the 35th Anniversary Morgan painted Aston Racing Green; looks superb. Can't figure the color of the V12V; maybe Flame Orange? Lighting has a big effect, being there was a very bright sun on the day of the show.
In keeping with Ed50's plea, let's all be civil without making this forum into a clique within a clique. It often makes us outsiders not want to post or contribute since so many threads devolve into endless arguments or seemingly mindless banter full of inside jokes that fall flat to us outsiders. Kind of like going to a club meeting for the first time as the new guy and finding that you have no idea what's going on and are not part of the witty repartee taking place.

Nice pics and cars, Steve, but where are all the people? When we have our annual car show in Celebration, you cannot move 2 inches without touching someone. We literally have over 30,000 people attend. Does make for a very hectic day, I must admit. Wish there was a lot less, but it is a charity event, so I suppose it's good to have higher attendance.
Also, Looks like a faux carbon wrap on the roof and mirrors of the red V12V. Was it?

Thank you for posting the pics.
I am a relative newcomer to this forum and like others,at first, found some comments a bit ' near the mark ' and was left adrift with the banter.
However I stuck with it and decided to ' go with the flow '.
I understand the banter may be irritating and irrelevant to some but having recently met a group of the lads at the D&D I can say they are a very friendly and welcoming bunch and not an exclusive club.
You have probably seen the AMOC forum of which I am a member and might find it more to your taste ,once again a friendly group of ladies and gents but far less banter and of a more conservative nature.

There were lots of people in my way of looking at it. It was a rather chilly, windy day, so that may have reduced the numbers. However, lots of photos I took were very early; crowds didn't really begin till just before noontime and I left by 1:30pm. I tend to arrive early and leave early at car shows...I get bored easily.

With respect to the forum itself, I find AMOC far too light on postings for Gaydon era cars, so PH it is, while for DB7, AMOC seems the better place for information, etc. I have no general problem with banter, but it is far too excessive in many cases, making threads go off topic almost immediately and then going on for many, many posts. When you check back to see if anything related to the topic has been posted (which might be interesting) you find that it is just more one-liners and nothing else. Look at the recent topic on cylinder deactivation, for a good example of how things go awry.
Frankly, all these meet ups you refer to are one of the causes of this type of posting behavior. You get to know forum posters on a personal basis and then it becomes more like a club with conversations going on between members, racking up post counts on a thread, bearing no relation to the topic.
Just because many of you know each other more and more through these meets, you need to realize that the majority are not in the same situation. If you want the forum to continue to thrive and not choke off input from new members (and old ones), then you need to respect the idea of a thread and try a little harder to keep it on topic, or at least return it to the point after a few witty exchanges.
If all this forum becomes nothing but a continual exchange of barbs, insults, criticisms, witticisms, all unrelated to the original thread, then what's the point of posting? Us non 'club' members post something, and the topic gets buried under a mountain of nonsense never to be seen again, or no one responds (equally disappointing). No one said there can't be back and forth, but it needs to be tempered. From my viewpoint the last couple years weren't nearly as bad as it is now; the decline seeming to accelerate coincident with the JLC trip and the increased camaraderie that ensued.
Any way, for all my 'preaching', who will be the first to end an exchange after the first few punches are thrown?
