Sorry to see a lovely Rapide with its driver side hind quarter quite badly smashed.
Assuming it was as a result of flooding on the motorway. Luckily I was in a 4x4 but can easily see how that Rapide could have taken a big dunk in the water and spun out of control.

If the owner is on here, hope you're ok. I would have stopped but it looked like you were doing fine on the hard shoulder.

Very bizarre - I came on here & was going to post the exact same thing - I went past about 40 minutes after you when it was just the car there.

The HA had finished brunch by then & were coning off the "puddles" up & down the M66 & trying to unblock the drains. Heading back "oop north" a couple of hours later, it wasn't much better.

Hope everyone was ok & it could have been so much worse.

Nice looking car thoughsmile

Was it a black one with black alloys? I see that quite a bit as I drive down there every day.

I don't think the alloys were black. It's one I've seen before and I've always thought it was quite tasteful, so probably standard alloys.

The puddles were bloody murderous. I instinctively braked when half my car found itself immersed in rainwater. Surprised I didn't see more accidents this morning. Can't believe the drains were blocked at that time of the morning when the HA would have been absolutely aware of the volume of rain that was falling from very early in the morning.

Happened to us in France a while back with the whole family on board, did a 720 at 70mph and then ended facing the right way on the hard shoulder. Really frightening, hope the owner is alright.

I've not seen it that bad on there in ages to be honest. The frightening thing is I've come down there whilst "pressing on" late at night - I'd hate to hit one of these pools then. Especially now they've turned the lights off so you get no warning whatsoever.

The HA were there wading about when I went past & poking the grids with a stick. Marvellous.
