Rockingham exclusive Track day for your Aston,,,,,March 21st
Discussion
This is looking a more illustrious gathering by the day. If we are to meet the booking criterion, we should close the 'entrants' list next Wednesday 15th Jan. At that point we can divide up the overall costs equally between the final number on the list, when I will ask for each to forward a cheque to me. Once I have a cleared cheque from all on the list, I'll pay Rockingham. Please note: Once paid in the individual fee is not refundable. However, if due to unforseen circumstances the day has to be called off, track unusable because of bad weather for instance, then all entrants fees will be refunded.

Will you accept a 'Bank Transfer'? (I don't even know where my cheque book is)
Transfer preferred, easier and quicker. Will you accept a 'Bank Transfer'? (I don't even know where my cheque book is)
PS: (I don't even know where my cheque book is) Cockers might know.

Would really like to attend but encountering a few insurance problems. Understandably my insurance company do not want to know. (You may recall Purdey was totalled last May) I have now had a quote for the track day but it has a £7000 excess ! Does that sound about right?Any suggestions?
Rob, I told Admiral that the track was booked exclusively by a group of Aston Martin Owners and we would have professional driving instructors in attendance to show the drivers how to drive their cars safely. I referred to it as a driver awareness training day and they said that there would be no increase in premiums. Not telling lies...We have booked the track and there will be professional instructors available'''Jon1967x said:
Oooo.... I wasn't thinking of going because of the insurance but I'm with Admiral.. I will have to read again to see what the days all about! (assuming their might be additional places available)
There are still a few places left,,see the list. I called Admiral, told them what the day was about, emphasising the fact that all members attending will be given professional instruction on high speed handling as part of the package. Admirals reaction was that the days driving experience from their perspective was a 'good' thing and they're right. PS: Please everyone do make sure you check with your own insurers that you are covered.

RED ALERT - Admiral just called me back to say that they do not cover driving on race circuits under any circumstances. When I questioned them as to why they stated they did in the call previously there was no credible response. Be cautious if you are relying on Admiral insurance for the event.
Interesting, thanks for the heads up. Wherelse better than a race circuit can one obtain high speed handling instruction. I told Admiral the day had been booked by a group of Aston Martin owners, the date and the location, I asked them to put a note on my file, they said they had already done that. The day is not a racing event, high speed handling instruction day, most definately. AMDBSNick said:
Does noreply@ADMIRAL.COM appreciate Rockingham is a "race circuit"
This isn't an Admiral bashing exercise, just making sure everyone is making the all important facts clear to them.
What a shame I phoned Admiral back Nick,,,,Natasha at Admiral went to check again with her boss and came back hugely apologetic, "Regretfully Mr Creese you were misinformed by the first agent you spoke to and I'm afraid we do not cover for Track days of any sort, full stop. If you had not phoned back we would have covered you". This isn't an Admiral bashing exercise, just making sure everyone is making the all important facts clear to them.
Now I shall go and find one day cover with someone, I'll let you know with whom.

Like the bod on £5/hour at Admiral knows all about "Rockingham Track"
As The Moose would say "the devil is in the detail"
Just sayin'
As Nattasha did today, the first bod I spoke to at Admiral checked with his boss, I told him it was being held at the 'Rockingham circuit', no attempt by me to hide anything, he came back said no problem,,,, As The Moose would say "the devil is in the detail"
Just sayin'
Now I must go and find some insurance cover, got any ideas Nick?

I cannot believe that not on insurance company will do group discount for 30 Astons.... Shameful....
I did try early doors for a bulk buy insurance deal,,,not a runner I'm afraid, too risky for them to even consider.I'm still waiting for a quote for Vesuvius from my online application with RYAN Motor insurance. As soon as I have something I'll post it up.

Bob I'm sorry but as I don't have a car at the moment it's probably as well if I withdraw from your whizz around rockingham.
We hope we will see you there Martyn, its just over 9 weeks away, enough time for Works to put her right. This will have to be the last call for entrants, cos tomorrow we'll need to get the booking confirmed and the fees organised.
Remember, this is not a 'racing' day, its a Track 'Experience' day, with qualified instructors present, providing I believe, invaluable experience for all that attend.
If you don't fancy the 'track' experience but would like to enjoy the craic anyway please come along, spectators welcome,,although you might just wish you'd signed up.

Bob have Ryan come back to you on insurance for this?
Yep, ridiculously expensive @ £800,,,so tried Moris Motorsport Ins and they wanted £500. So I am currently talking to Locktons. Its looking likely that I'll switch to Locktons full stop, the annual premium higher than Admiral but I'll be covered for any track day experience event (not competition event)in the future. robgt said:
Bob would you like me to send you the quote that I received .£450 . with a £7000 excess which did not include 3rd party cover or any other liability
As it is for me, it is for you Rob, this is not a choice thing, you 'have' to be there, you know you do. This is your destiny oh powerful one, search your feelings, you know it to be true.
You like me, have spent a small fortune creating a fantastically powerful and beautiful supercar, so be there, please.
Looks like costing me thick end of £900 (including track fees) but then I'm looking long term and maybe Silverstone for our next 'Driver experience day'.

I'm afraid I am no longer certain to make this due to my car going back to Aston today - list updated. If there is space available when it is returned I will commit once again, apologies for any inconvenience and thanks to Y100 for organising.
I have spoken to Will Thomas at Rockingham and he's agreed to move the deposit date to the 27th Jan (nice man). Hopefully Adam and Martyn will have a better idea about their cars by then. We did also agree that post the 27th Jan. anyone wanting to join in the fun could pay direct to Rockingham (up to our maximum of 30 cars) so thats a great option. So for now guys n gals, keep your money in your pockets and your eyes on the thread for updates nearer the 27th. 2. AMDBSNick (if he hasn't bought an F Type by then )

Looking more unlikely Bob.
Should get the quote to the insurers tomorrow, but the paint has to cure for at least 8 days before the Paintshield film can be applied. It makes no sense to bring the car back to Wales and then back to Peterborough a few days later.
Don't suppose I dare come In the V8VR hire car???

Just heard back from my insurance company......am covered....for £85.00.....fully comp....
Don't know who you are insured with Tony but thats a reasonable, if not very reasonable quote. Tomorrow I'm moving Insurers, from Admiral to Locktons, their policy covers Track Days, as many as I care to participate in. burntout said:
I may have to give them a call......
I know peace of mind is the main thing for track insurance, and will cover your own car... But what if you take someone else out... Pretty sure it wont cover you the cost to their car???
An easy thing.... Approx 25 cars (and dwindling), only 5 out at a time to do 20-25 minute sessions.. 20 minutes will be more than enough at speed.... And we will be lowering the risk... and less mayhem than a free for all out there together.... ?????
Burntout, there will be no mayhem, no free for all, my insurance cover will be fully comprehensive, I hope everyone elses will be too. What's wear and tear like on brake pads and tyres for this kind of day? If I need to plan for a new set of each, that would make the day unaffordable; even if it would half-wear them, that effectively adds a grand to the cost.
Personally I have no previous Track day experience. However, to state the obvious, the amount of wear and tear will be directly related to the amount of squeezing one applies to the loud/brake pedals. I do not intend breaking any lap records but I shall be enjoying to the extent of my own limitations, hitherto unexperienced sensations of speed and acceleration of my car. This, on a safe and purpose built road that otherwise I cannot legally enjoy on the Queens highway.
The real bonus is that there will be many of our forum friends there, doing exactly the same thing, just imagine that sound,,,,not to be missed.
