Rob, I told Admiral that the track was booked exclusively by a group of Aston Martin Owners and we would have professional driving instructors in attendance to show the drivers how to drive their cars safely. I referred to it as a driver awareness training day and they said that there would be no increase in premiums. Not telling lies...We have booked the track and there will be professional instructors available'''
Did you tell them I will be there though? Just sayin biggrin

Would really like to attend but encountering a few insurance problems. Understandably my insurance company do not want to know. (You may recall Purdey was totalled last May) I have now had a quote for the track day but it has a £7000 excess ! Does that sound about right?Any suggestions?

I'm with Admiral too and was told I am fully covered by my existing policy.

Just PM me your bank details and will send money. I also have a Nigerian friend who is in jail right now, but needs help to buy medical supplies for his sick wife who is pregnant with her 22nd child. He said that he will pay double the value of my car into a nominated bank account, so if it's OK, I'll send on your details to him. No need to thank me.

There are still a few places left,,see the list. I called Admiral, told them what the day was about, emphasising the fact that all members attending will be given professional instruction on high speed handling as part of the package. Admirals reaction was that the days driving experience from their perspective was a 'good' thing and they're right. smile

PS: Please everyone do make sure you check with your own insurers that you are covered.

All,

The closest hotel to the track is the Hampton by Hilton in Corby on the same Industrial Park as the actual Speedway. I have negotiated a 'Group Discount' which reduces the price from £74 to £70 a night for a double room including breakfast. Just quote 'AST' when making your booking.

The hotel details are as follows:

Hampton by Hilton Corby
Rockingham Leisure Park
Princewood Road
Corby
Northamptonshire
NN17 4AP
Web:www.hamptonbyhilton.co.uk
Tel: +44 (0)1536211001

As I am travelling up from the South coast I have booked in for the night before (20th) and the night after the 'Driver Awareness Training Day' (21st) so I can enjoy the day.

I have been advised by the hotel that they have a large booking for the 22nd which has tied up the bar and restaurant. Customers can still purchase food and Beverage but they will have to take them back to their room.

When I tried to make the booking via the 'Hilton' website it said that there were no rooms available but when I rang them I was able to book in for the 2 nights.
Just went on line and booked a double room, queen sized bed one night including brekkie £58-00...
Will be on the phone to them tomorrow (Can you PM me with the name of the booking?
OK..Just spoken to the the Sales manager at the hotel. The on-line booking price that Paul got was under the hotels 'Advance Purchase Deal' which has now ended. I asked why I wasn't offered this price when I booked over the phone and she..Er...Apoligised.

They have now agreed that the Group Discount price for those booking under the 'AST' code can have a double room and breakfast for £68.

RED ALERT - Admiral just called me back to say that they do not cover driving on race circuits under any circumstances. When I questioned them as to why they stated they did in the call previously there was no credible response. Be cautious if you are relying on Admiral insurance for the event.

Lockton/Chubb cover trackdays, as long as it isn't under racing conditions.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. Wherelse better than a race circuit can one obtain high speed handling instruction. I told Admiral the day had been booked by a group of Aston Martin owners, the date and the location, I asked them to put a note on my file, they said they had already done that. The day is not a racing event, high speed handling instruction day, most definately.

Does noreply@ADMIRAL.COM appreciate Rockingham is a "race circuit"

This isn't an Admiral bashing exercise, just making sure everyone is making the all important facts clear to them.

What a shame I phoned Admiral back Nick,,,,Natasha at Admiral went to check again with her boss and came back hugely apologetic, "Regretfully Mr Creese you were misinformed by the first agent you spoke to and I'm afraid we do not cover for Track days of any sort, full stop. If you had not phoned back we would have covered you". furious
Now I shall go and find one day cover with someone, I'll let you know with whom. wink

When I first inquired I told them that it was at the Rockingham Track in Northampton. I have no intention of ringing them up now that I have the eMail above. Lets hope they don't call me first....

As Nattasha did today, the first bod I spoke to at Admiral checked with his boss, I told him it was being held at the 'Rockingham circuit', no attempt by me to hide anything, he came back said no problem,,,, confused

Now I must go and find some insurance cover, got any ideas Nick? hehe
