I just bought this little device today which enables you to Airplay from iPhone/iPod/iPad/Android directly to your sound system in your Aston. If you have the 30-pin iPod connector in the car the song title and artist will also show up in the display and you can skip to next song etc from the steering wheel.

I got the WMA-1000

(I am not associated with the company and not making any commission on any sales - just FYI :-)

Thanks. I use the bluetooth audio in my wife's X5 all the time and have an iPod Classic in my car. That works fine, but I rarely remember to remove it to update the music. One of these makes sense for me.

Quite a good idea that, though I prefer less processing so use a USB stick or my old ipod classic

Ordered for £58.75 from Amazon Prime.

To plug in my iPhone I have to take it out of the case which is a nuisance so this will solve that problem. The reviews say that it can be awkward to get the Bluetooth to work for this and for the phone connection but that it can be done, and that running two Bluetooth connections use a lot of phone battery. Apart from that the reviews were very positive.

I use Bluetooth connection to play music from my iPhone and it works without any accessories - thumbs up Aston!

This is interesting...the concept sounds good. Does the connection happen without user intervention...everytime?

Those that bought the device....any feeddback after a few days of use?

Hi all

Happy to confirm that this works well. Also can use Siri to choose tracks to play. The iPhone music library fully integrates with the audio system without being plugged in to the cable.

Best regards

Seemed a bit expensive to me so I looked and there are alternatives - I found something for less than half that price and am very happy with it. Mind you, I use Android not iOs. Search LAYDEN iDOCK on Amazon if you're interested.

I can't imagine the sound quality will be that great if it's using Bluetooth. It doesn't have the bandwidth required to transmit high-quality sound without significant compression artefacts.
But I might be wrong...

An interesting question! A quick google seems to show that Bluetooth audio supports up to 320kbs which is the most the Premium Audio can read anyway, so providing you have put it on your iPhone at this bitrate in the first place all should be fine via the Airplay gadget.

That said I am fairly sure that most people who are happy to play music from their iPhone don't really care too much about or indeed appreciate audio quality, so...

Even though bluetooth migh be capable of that bandwidth, the audio is transmitted as a straight forward analogue radio signal. The quality you get will be somewhere around FM if you're luck - i.e. ste.

I have a Parrott asteroid classic kit in my car that lets me either plug in and ipod directly (digital) or go over bluetooth. The plugin approach sounds 10 times better.

Sorry to be rude, but that is nonsense.

Yes, that is indeed an incorrect statement (not being rude tongue out).

If you read the tech spec on http://www.viseeo.com/ugC_ShowroomItem_Detail.asp?... is clearly states "Support Airplay and A2DP Bluetooth music streaming protocol." which means that the music is transferred via Bluetooth and not an analogue radio signal.

I was one of the first to put a Dension Gateway on my Aston and I can verify that the audio quality when streaming audio from my phone via Bluetooth is nowhere near as good as the same audio through a direct connection.

at the end of the day. I can play podcasts / music from my iPhone without pugging it into the centre console. Get in the car the connection is automatic. May not be the best audio quality as a direct connection but very useful.

Just reporting back. I bought a Viseeo Tune2air from Amazon a few weeks ago (I think it was a bit cheaper than a site linked above). It was extremely easy to set up and works flawlessly to stream music from my iPhone 5, with selection of material available through the radio screen in the same way as when the phone is plugged in. Setting it up did not interfere with the Bluetooth connection for phone use.

Anyone used an Android phone with one? Sounds like just what I'm after.

Music via bluetooth is fine. And a lot easier IMO
