£350 is a good price; what puts me off these track days is the idea of needing two new tyres (or four half new tyres), and brake wear, so it's £1k+. Fun as it may be, that's a different proposition.
Most helpful, thank you. irked

Guys I've got to go out now,,,be back before lights out.

How about the original 35 that were on the list the day you paid the deposit stump up the required sum yes
That seems fair. If you contact Simon at Cambridge Aston Martin, i'm sure he will have interested owners through his database??

Maybe set a minimum value for participating cars at £30k?
Not sure if serious or not, but that cant work. My point was I didn't want to share the track with someone who in all likelihood wouldn't give a toss about anyone else around them. A DB7 can be bought for a lot less than £30k but you wouldn't prevent someone from using that.

No, I was being reasonably serious.

I picked £30k because I figured that would cover the cheapest V8Vs. I didn't consider DB7s, I'm afraid. How about a £20k value? Either way, it will take the sub-£10k hot hatches out of the equation.

I wasn't trying to be argumentative smile, I just think that a price cut-off is just a bit too arbitrary. I think we should trust Bob's judgement and anyone joining up at a late date who isn't in an AM gets the nod after his say so. If for arguments sake I knew someone with say... an S2000, I could PM Bob and say that a fine upstanding chap I knew fancied coming along, a decision can be made and the name added to the list.

Just a suggestion, that's all, and anyone should do the same if they know of a friend/colleague who was up for it. My 2p anyway smile

I think that's a fair call yes

When you take into account the ONLY reason that all 35 have not already paid the full amount is the good nature of Bob who has put the whole thing together and made any interim payments due. He had managed to put MSV off, on all our behalfs, until the last minute before full payment was made and knowing how these people work I'm sure the contract does tie ALL OF US into making full payment wheather we attend on the day or not.

This from the Track Hire Manager today:

Hi Bob,

I’m sorry to have to inform you of this, but I have had a discussion with our head of finance and lawyer and as you have signed the agreement you are in fact liable for the full hire amount. I understand the situation and can sympathise with you, but at this stage it is impossible for us to re sell the day.

Have you got affiliations to other owners clubs or groups that could come along on the day to increase the participant levels? I think at this stage it is a case of promoting the event as far and wide as possible to up the numbers.

Kind regards

Nick Rice

I've just read the terms and conditions on the MSV website. If you give not less than 14 days notice of a cancellation then they will either reschedule the event or offer you a credit for a future event, such credit to be redeemed within three months although the event doesn't have to happen within three months. I have not seen the contract that you signed but the terms on the website do not state that the full amount needs to be paid upon cancellation.

Does your contract state when the balance payment is due and what happens upon cancellation?

Bob, if it helps add me to the 22 left to make 23 now. Make sure you get at least the deposit off the original list of 35 that dropped off and that will take some of the pain from the 22 left.

I will bring the S3 for some fun, so all we need is another 7

Seemon, fancy making it 24 me old china?

I will contact a mate that has a McLaren F1 and see if he fancies it also wink

I know a bunch of guy's that drive some very expensive kit (mainly Ferrari's) that drive with me on many charity events. I could approach some of them and offer if that is an option?

My mate with the F1 McLaren is away that weekend and can't make it sadly, he said he would have if he was about........ bks, I soooooo wanted to passenger in that yes

Let me know latest by the weekend and I can offer it out, I have 25 guy's that I know.

OK, put me down as the 24th. It would be a shame if the day is cancelled and I'd rather pay a bit more and have the fiun than pay £350 for nothing.

As you know Bob, I sold my Aston which is why I took myself off the list. Hopefully Jockman will make it round at least one lap smile

Don't you read Tony!!!!

Lots of people dropped out, but cancellation is no option or poor Bob gets shafted for 12K.

So those that dropped out need to cough some dough and the day needs some more recruits to make the price reasonable for the people that have gone the distance. Good enough?

I gathered that..you wker.....how much is it for the 30 off.....the original 35 should just pay the money....as far as I m concerned you put your name down for a paid event , you should be liable to pay for it...even if you have dropped out , unless that person finds a suitable replacement...

Here's a proposal that might work; Let those that are still on the list (assume Cockers and Seemon are included please) we have 24 entrants. Let those 24 make their transfer payments now (£350). Meanwhile we work on the remaining 6 spare places. I reckon we can fill them.

In the event that we fall short, the deficit be split between those that dropped out post deposit payment notice being posted June 3rd. On that date we had 35 + 1 reserve.

Does that seem fair?
