I think they should all pay....by putting your name on a list for a paid event , then pulling out after a deposit etc has been paid you should still be liable....why should I pay for someone who for whatever reason decides not to bother .....those who have laid the full amount but are not attending..I take my hat of to you....the rest should be ashamed ....and not trusted ...and I include those who have sold their cars for whatever reason.....after the deposit was paid....
I lost my job so I find your "ashamed and not to be trusted" comment pretty insulting. I have asked Bob to let me know what I owe him and will still pay up as ditching someone in the sh't isn't exactly my style.[quote=FoxyGTO3R]Hi Bob,
If you can PM and let me know what my share of the shortfall is I will sort payment for you.
For the record I also find the "ashamed and not to be trusted" comment pretty insulting too. It must be nice for those who live in a perfect world!!
Cheers

Yes it is.....and as for the comment being insulting....take it as you wish....

Rod, good man and thank you. As the event is going ahead quite soon, lets see how the financies pan out and afterwards we can discuss an amicable solution. Sorry you can't make it,,if its any comfort, you're not alone. If you can PM and let me know what my share of the shortfall is I will sort payment for you.

I'm sorry to hear your news about your job. I know that Adam cannot attend due to an operation so there are many valid reasons for people pulling out. That's why I made my suggestion.
Thanks Simon. I've always liked Honda drivers.I'd like to think there are valid reasons for any drop-out, as i don't think anyone on here is a dishonest / "not to be trusted" person and prefer to default to seeing the best in people.
At the same time, nobody wants to see Bob out of pocket as (a) he's a top bloke with a lovely car (b) he's one of the few people (Tony included) who pulls his finger out and organises things, and shouldn't be penalised for it.
The reasons given for the "shame" list are that we didn't take our names prior to the a deposit being paid, which in my case was the 5th August (the day i got my op date confirmed) and 6 weeks prior to the event. If the cost to get on the list back in March was a £100 deposit, I would have gladly paid it and made my decision to drop out in the knowledge that this would be lost. The reality is, if this costs me £350 to not go, it would be cheaper (if not medically advisable) for me to cancel the hospital appointment!
This is no slight on Bob who, at the end of the day is not a professional event organiser and is doing this out of the goodness of his heart, but the key learning needs to be to make the cost of entry and exit more explicit to avoid these kinds of situations.
As referenced by Bob above, I have been in PM dialogue for a week with him on what is expected, and I don't need to be "named and shamed" and called dishonest to do the right thing.
I think Simon's suggestion is fair, but ultimately Bob needs to do the maths and everyone needs to be OK with the final course of action.
I hope you all have a great day. I'm gutted to miss it.
Adam
We are just back from holiday and are very sad to see the turn of events here. We have not contributed to the AM forum for a while but we did have an email from Bob and this was our reply to him:
"Dear Bob,
Thank you for your e.mail. We are really sorry to see the predicament you have over Snetterton. You may not be aware but we no longer have an Aston and its replacement (Porsche 991 GT3) hasn't been built yet! We hope to take delivery in December.
We hope that the spare places for Snetterton will be filled by other enthusiastic car owners. When we dropped out over a month ago there was still a reserve list and we were happy to see that Gareth (Willga) took our place on the list. The happiest outcome for all will be if enough people go to make a fair split of the cost. It will be a very sad day if forum friendships get broken up by disagreements over this so let's hope all will be resolved soon.
Kind regards
Rob & Molly"
Our conscience was clear when we pulled out because there was a reserve list and our place was taken by another.
Bob - let us know what the final financial decision is and we will do the honourable thing.

Are you still looking for more people for this?
I'm interested, would I be correct in saying the cost is £350?
Also, what about track day insurance etc? Is this required?
Hi GeordieDave, actually we have space for another 9 cars. The cost per car is set at £350. Track day Insurance is a good idea, I am covered automatically with my Locktons policy,,,you should perhaps check yours. I'm interested, would I be correct in saying the cost is £350?

I'm not covered for track days with Admiral. I will make some enquiries into separate cover tomorrow - does anyone have any recommendations?Edited by Y100 on Monday 15th September 21:36
There is another Aston owner at work, I will check if he is interested in signing up tomorrow.

Dave, hope you can make it, Rockingham was fantastic, no one was daft and no one will be at Snetterton, though dredders did give the photographer some action to shoot As for insurance I didn't have any for Rockingham nor will I for Snetterton- remember that everyone if you come close! Many didn't have insurance at Rockingham but some did, think it's a case of personal preference, as with most things it's probably the drive to and from the event which is the riskiest part. There is another Aston owner at work, I will check if he is interested in signing up tomorrow.

I was with Admiral prior to Rockingham in March, first they said I was covered, they then changed their minds and said I was not,,t'was then I switched to Locktons. There is another Aston owner at work, I will check if he is interested in signing up tomorrow.

Hi all I will be with you on Friday looking forward to it! Won't be in a V12S this time though as our car is not around so will be in a V8S manual instead.....might have to learn to drive properly by Friday! Regards Simon Lane
A proper box! I understand there will be reserved parking for people that actually use their left hand whilst in the car V8V12VTECwoollie said:
