Hi All

I have seen a car in this dealer, just wondered if anyone has had any dealing with them?

Trying to get me to put a holding deposit on said car. Bit worried about that, but as the car is rare so it would no doubt sell quickly.

I have been to other Stratstone dealers in the past and was not too impressed with the preparation of their cars.

If it the car I suspect it may be Laura's (taylor172) old car and she kept it mint I believe. My car originated from Cardiff although purchased from Hagley and was pretty much perfect on collection.

Only thing is Cardiff is at least 2.5 hours from me so this car best in good condition smile !!! Part exchange price they offered was not too bad, but I think there is room for improvement.

AMDBSNick what model was Laura's car? They only got this car yesterday afternoon, but it won't physically arrive until end of week.

Seems a little sad that I am selling my very first Aston frown although upgrading to another one feels great.

No, that one is not the car in question. But that does look very nice.

Cardiff are good to deal with, I got my Vantage from them. They refunded my deposit after protracted negotiations, fair play to them! Then got the right car at the right price and they even changed the wheels for me AND put on brand new tyres. I know its a long drive for you but spend some time there if you can.

Ive put 5k on a Vantage at Aston Martin Works dealer. Im also 3000 miles away when i did it. I have asked for a list of work that is happening to the car emailed to me so hopefully ill get that soon. Im taking a chance as i have only seen pics but i have no dramas refusing on the day if im not happy.

My recent experience with Stratstone Cardiff was not positive, i would purchase the car from another Stratsont AM dealer. Call the stratsont dealership near where you live, they will get the car for you, you can negotiate with your local dealer and probably have a better experience. I ended up getting compensation from Pendragon PLC because of the guys in Cardiff. The rest of the people i have dealt with in other Stratstone branches have been great.

The guys at Stratstone seem OK at the moment, but that's because they want my money no doubt. I am no push over and if the car is not as stated or prepared as I think it should be, then I walk.

I am querying their pricing of car, as I saw another N400 go recently from Grange in Essex for 4k less than Stratstone's one. The one at Grange was the same colour but with less mileage (nearly 10k less infact) only other difference is that Stratstone's is a manual not Sportshift like Grange one.

A LOT of garages use the deposit ploy to lock you in to the car and reduce the haggle potential
I've done it a couple of times, traveled long distances to see the car and ended up getting the deposit back after a struggle.
If you like the car make a special effort to go and see it in the flesh before you put ANY sort of deposit on it!

I never put a deposit down unless I have agreed a deal.

As already mentioned, getting deposits back can be tiresome.

One contributor posted here a couple of years ago, that he lived in Cardiff, but always drove to Gloucestershire, for his service requrements.

It might not mean much though. Perhaps the forum member worked for the other dealer.

As mentioned by others, we have read here a few times about deposit problems. Possibly it would be wise just to speak to the dealer, on the day you are going to make the journey.

Sorry to disagree but I got a fantastic deal from Stratstone Wilmslow on my V8V trade in and the 15 month old V12V I bought. And the team were great to deal with too.
OP - I would always recommend trying to negotiate and plenty of Astonistas (was that we decided?) have had success. Always more challenging to negotiate when cars are rarer. Good luck

I bought both my Astons from Cardiff without any problems, and they sorted out a hood fault they found on PDI. They were excellent in that they loaned me a brand new car out of the showroom on two occasions, once becayse my new car wasn't available on time due to the hood problem and I can't remember the other!
I have always dealt with James Mayo

On my second V8V from Stratstone Cardiff and have no complaints. Chris Little at Cardiff is great to deal with.
