Hi All

I’m looking at purchasing a Vantage Roadster 08/09. (Ideally a 4.7) very soon and having a warranty on the car is something of a MUST for my piece of mind.

Now obviously if I buy from an Aston dealership I get the approved warranty which will put me at ease with things like the gearbox, clutch, roof mechanical issues etc. However what options do I have if I buy from:

1. An independent
2. Private

I know most warranty that independents put on them last for 3 to 6 months and obviously don’t cover a lot of the same mechanicals as the Aston Approved.

Can I buy private and buy an Aston Approved Warranty (I’m guessing not)?
If I buy from Aston can the Approved Warranty be rolled year after year (obviously at a cost) or is there a time frame that warranty are only available up to?

Cheers
Dom

An Aston warranty will NOT cover the clutch. Unfortunately that's really the only risk. My old 4.7 had 32k on when I sold her and the clutch still felt rock solid. Budget to replace, stash the £2k and forget about it smile

I think you can buy private and pay for an Aston Martin dealer to inspect the car which will give you some peace of mind and allow you to take out the AM warranty. Others would suggest going to a good independent and pay for an inspection with them.

Yes, you can add a warranty at any time.

It involves a 140 point inspection with an AM Service centre. It will be at least 2 hours labour so budget in the region of £250. (Other owners often negotiate this price into the price of a service).

Then you've got the choice of 2 Extended Warranties, Premium and Plus:

A quick call to any AM dealer will give you the current prices. IIRC, they are in the region of £1400 and £1800.

Why? It doesn't really cover the stuff that tends to go wrong!

Actually I just looked into this. In US if you buy a certified pre-owned aston, you get a 12 month warranty on it. I'm willing to pay a little more by going this route.

Absolutely not worried about clutches and things like that, BUT a failed roof mechanism/assembly, blown engine or tranny, talking serious $$. To have a year to get to know the car is worth the extra $$.

On that note...

Any decent aftermarket warranty companies I should be looking into?

I boiught an 08 plate Roadster 2 years ago , it had the AM warranty on the car when i bought it privately.
I renew each year at the time i have the car serviced at HWM and they waive the 'pre-warranty check fee'.

Both years I have had the car , the warranty has paid for itself - included roof module failure, wing mirrors replaced under warranty.

I looked at third party warranties, but decided I would pay for the AM warranty that works out at +- £120 a month or just put the money in the bank.
My warranty renewal is due in mid-June...and I will be renewing once again.
