while I am at it, AML should make the ADS and the steering from the V12S available as options on the V8 ..

Hmmm thinking about it I wonder if this is a pre-emptive strike into the USA in case they get turned down for their appeal to sell the Vantage and DB9 in the USA without the latest safety standards (see Bez Legacy thread). Make hay while the sun shines and build as many cars for the USA as possible before the cut-off date?
From what I understand this decision was based on more short term objectives, although I can see how the information you referenced could make it seem as you suggested.

From speaking to US Dealers, the announcement yesterday has generated a very substantial amount of interest. I know one dealer who received an order within a couple of hours of the announcement. Yes, they all still have a few 2013's to move but seems like on the whole they are happy about the GT.

Must be some anxious dealers chewing their finger nails down to the elbows at the moment. The Vantage GT has a delivery date of late 2014 and the new rule comes into effect Sept 1 2014. If the hardship exemption isn't granted there will be a lot of Vantage GTs stuck on the docks that can't be delivered.

Why would the deliveries be not until later this year?

If the very attractive pricing is to increase sales, I would have expected early delivery dates.

Could they be awaiting the appeal decision, before even making these cars?

Automobile Magazine reported: "The 2014 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT is expected to begin customer delivery in the third quarter of 2014. Aston claims that the limited-edition Vantage GT will start at $99,900 before delivery, which would be a drop of more than $20,000 compared to the 2013 Aston Martin V8 Vantage’s starting price of $122,400 for the coupe."

That's only about 10 weeks away, which sounds right/reasonable for a factory order delivered to the US

Yes
V12S steering feels different though ..

more eager to turn it, and has better and more natural feel.

perhaps it's the extra weight smile

I think the years on that quote are messed up considering the GT is a 2015MY.
