Running costs as a daily driver are also exorbitant
Err...no they're not.

Lovely, car congrats

I went through a similar exercise and ended up with a used Evora smile

I decided at 49 that I am not yet old enough for an Aston.................smile

Running costs as a dily driver are also exorbitant
Yes, well, you do have a point, Astons are best in the hands of proper grown ups tis true. hehe

49? Yes, you're a little bit over the hill now for a V12V. smile

Servicing costs in particular, I called enough dealers to get a reasonable idea. Maser Grantourismo was similar, Evora was cheaper. I would be doing 20k miles a year in the car, the difference is marked (as a paper exercise)

Aston is on my bucket list.

Personally I wouldn't (and don't) do 20k a year in my AM, a lotus or any of them I want to hold special. I've done 20-25k a year for over 10 years and despite having some decent stuff (currently a bmw 640d gran coupe with more options than I care to add up) the car becomes a work horse and that takes the shine off it. It would be like having to sleep with <insert favourite icon> twice a day. The stupid thing is it would probably be cheaper to run just the Aston Martin.

I have been through all of this and decided your last sentence is the way ahead for me rather than trying to run two cars! :-)

I'd miss the debate on the handling of the bmw e46 v e92 while getting new tyres fitted too much to change now (happened only today.. All bmw owners are expected to join in)... I did mention it (or was that 'I') was stupid..

Much like yourself I am sure, I have gone every which way on this and after 33 years arrived at the one nice car as a daily drvier scenario (though I will admit to a classic in the garage)

I have tried every other way and will probably go through them all again as well!! Only one BMW for me in that time though

No solenoid in quicksilver exhaust, so remove fuse 22 won't do a thing.

I have storm black too. Superb but very very very soft paint. Get it detailed and covered with highest quality sealant you can get.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I cannot wait! and it looks like the weather is playing ball. Also looks like there's a few of us heading for Wales this weekend, well I'll only be there Thursday and Friday. First time for me and I'm planning to do a few routes that are on this website http://www.greatestdrivingroads.com/

@ AndyBrew: Which V12S did you end up buying? I saw a Volcano red with black roof, lips and rear panel at HWM in Surrey and it looked stunning.

@ V12woollie: it's the Quicksilver sport exhaust and cats, which should make it sound pretty mean. With this and the sport button I'm wondering whether taking the infamous fuse 22 out would be useful?

@Jon1967x: I actually tried the Maserati GT MC Shift as well, but it felt so big and heavy and I hated the gearbox. Stunning looking and sounding car though.

@Minglar: really like the Storm Black with the red flecks and goes well with the red stitching. Very tempted to get red calipers as well ...

Is it Thursday yet?!
