Evo Triangle / Groes Inn
Discussion
Decided to sample the Evo triangle this coming weekend and have booked in to the Groes Inn on Friday night and wondered if anybody had any recommendations for roads to try whilst me and the wife are out that way other than the obvious which I assume the staff at the Groes Inn can point me in the right direction of?
I coming from Leicester so any routes from the east people would recommend?
Can't wait!

If your coming from Leicester, head M way or toll to Shrewsbury, take the B4396 off the A5 a few miles north of Shrewsbury heading for Knockin. Continue on the 4396 up the Tannat valley heading for Bala. This takes you up and over the Berwyn Mountains , ultimately into Bala itself.
Take the A4212 out of Bala until you are past the reservoir , Llyn Celyn, and a few miles later take the B4391 towards Llan Ffestiniog, from the village take the A470 up towards Betwys Y Coed.
Don't go in to Betwys itself (Unless you need some V power) , turn right on the A5 and head towards the triangle A543 just after Pentrfoleas starts it.
Do a lap of the triangle then head back to Betwys on the A5. take a right on to the B5113 to Nebo before you get to Betwys
Take a left eventually at T junction towards Llanrwst , crossing the river and then the B5106 up to the Groes Inn.
These are all magnificent roads with spectacular views (as long as your lucky with the weather)
Enjoy

We called in on Saturday but stayed at a little place down the road in Rowen this time. Have stayed at The Groes twice - once with EVO & once with the gang from this forum when Mikey K organised a North Wales run out a couple of years ago. Don't bother to ask the miserable b*stard behind the bar as he probably won't know who or what EVO is (despite the various photos of/about them that I gather are in the gents!).I coming from Leicester so any routes from the east people would recommend?

The famed triangle is actually a bit of a mystery! We drove it on Saturday but only recognised bits of it as being the roads we had been on with Messrs Catchpole, Bovingdon etc. as there are lots of other smaller roads used by them that we didn't re-discover this w/end. We took a drive over to Caernarfon via the Llanberis Pass on Sunday - a bit busy but some nice routes over there - B4086 & B4085. Look out for the bikes tho' - love to see them but we were first on the scene of a bike accident on the B4085 - biker ok but first time we've seen a bike with completely broken forks
EVO use the B4391 between the A4212 and Llan Ffestiniog more than the triangle and most of the pics are taken there.
they also use the B4407 a lot for photography but its pants for a quick drive (too bumpy )
The routes around Snowdon as Molly mentions are good but crowded , especially on the weekend.
