Jon - you are right. If you've got any from this setting that show how far from the fence rail and how far into the middle of the road you all parked feel free to post them up - absolute shambles, disgraceful behaviour hehe Bet we had more fun tho' wink

The white line in front of AndyBrew's front wheel is actually the centre of the road line, not the edge of the road rolleyes Everyone was just too hyped and excited to worry about stuff like parking straight biggrin

Wait, what?
I would have mentioned them before Lewis but I didn't like to spoil the surprise. Here's a photo of Big Scotty about to run in terror from his car as a dinosaur descends upon it:

I would love to have made some DB9 owner jokes but Jockman doesn't have one anymore and the only one that was with us this weekend is a BR special ('Project Mathis') and up to full DBS spec so no taking the p*ss allowed there!

The Welsh Weekender has developed somewhat from the simple drive-out that you recall tongue out

Yes indeed Molly!

I was impressed with your reaction time to the cow brake test on Day 2...

I thought Rob had a picture?
Better than that (possibly) he has a video, complete with commentary, but I need a bit more time before I can sort it and share it biggrin

I just want to say some THANK YOU's as some of them are to people who weren't even there this weekend ...

To 'mikey k' for supplying the inspiration. We first went on a group drive-out over 3 years ago, in North Wales, and it was organised by Mike. Initially it didn't involve accommodation but we pieced that together as we went along & we met some great people and had a great laugh. That's how it started.

We took the idea and developed it because we were also inspired by Petrolhead Nirvana http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/# who do this stuff on a commercial basis and many of you will have heard us mention them and our Alpine adventures with them. On our 3rd attempt at running a Welsh Weekender it finally clicked idea ...why don't we use the same hotel that Petrolhead Nirvana run their Welsh Weekenders from? So the 2nd Thank You is to them - cheers Pete & Bachi (hope the snow in the Alps isn't hindering you too much this week!).

That brings us to the hotel. Thank You Justin, Greg and the rest of the team at The Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells http://www.metropole.co.uk/. You did a great job and we whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to tour in Wales. We can't fault it. Great location, rooms, food, staff, car parking, atmosphere etc. etc. What more can a petrolhead or pistonhead ask of a hotel than that the boss is on your wavelength and opts to come out to play too!

We must also mention in despatches Jon at The Bell http://www.thebellcountrypub.co.uk/ - I thought lunch went pretty well! .. and for dinosaurs and coffee - James at http://www.showcaves.co.uk/

Thank You to everyone who came and joined in this weekend and for being a thoughtful bunch and getting us our own customised Rob, Molly & Pearl sill plaques! Lots of the old school bunch who have done this before couldn't make it which left room for new people to come and find out what its all about - and that turned out to be a good thing smile ... I wonder who will turn up next year scratchchinclap

All looking very optimistic then. When does booking begin?.yes are we going to the seaside?.

Thanks again molly bow, I just keep reliving the whole experience. The memories should keep me going for a while, just love itbounce
Maybe the evo triangle, over the top of snowdon, drifting on pendine sands and then drop Rob off at the priory to spare Molly?
hehe

Seriously tho' Jon - it would be great if you want to do a 'Triangle' run as the Beacons are my specialist area but the north is a strange, strange land to me wink

You asked Mike and so you shall receive smile

The majority of Welsh Weekenders are going to say they remember the sheep, the horses and the dinosaurs (does no one else have photos of dinosaurs?!) but not the cow. That is because it was a Sunday morning cow. I drove the lead car for about three quarters of the route from the hotel to Tintern (sorry if I held you up guys but wasn't it my turn to have some fun at the wheel?) and then, as he was on home territory, Mike (Gdc) lead the rest, which is when this happened:

More photos smile

As a special surprise we had arranged for the villagers and local constabulary to come out and line the route. The locals had taken it very seriously and many had even dressed up for the occasion! wink

At last wink

Thanks Scotty - loved the sheep but where were all the other Astons?!

In the spirit of you've shown us yours I'll show you mine here's one sent to us by the car that followed us. The female voice ('woohoo'!!) is not mine!
