I bought a Nilfisk pressure washer last year to help with the car cleaning (and other, er, cleaning duties. Yes dear, it's wonderful for getting that patio or brickwork clean etc etc).

The snow foam bottle and attachment that came with it is frankly rubbish. So I'm going to get a proper, dedicated snow foam lance.

There seems to be two types on the market:

http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/shop/pa-snow-foam-lan... (as recommended by paddy/Francis in his washing guide). £40 +P&P.

Or this 'Kranzle' type: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/kranzle-professional... £43 +P&P.

There is a guy on eBay selling these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am... It looks like it's the same as option 1 above, but it's only £27 inc P&P.

Have any of you snow foam users got any thoughts or feedback on any of the above?

Thanks.

I use one of these - http://www.morethanpolish.com/Heavy-Duty-Snow-Foam...

Although just had to buy another as the head split. All look very similar.

I bought the first one on your list, it works very well and I have had no problems with it. You do need to strip it down occasionally and clean the gauze filter, I think this has a lot to do with the foaming ability of the unit rather than the product you use. I have also tried several different snow foams, some definitely work better than others. I'm currently using a locally manufactured product.

As my car isn't purposely driven in the rain, mostly I just wet the car, snow foam, rinse off and dry. I only use a lambswool mitt and buckets is the car is very dirty. My reasoning is that the less rubbing you do the less swirl marks are inflicted onto the paint. My car was professionally detailed and sealed when new, so it's relatively easy to maintain the finish.

I can recommend that one too. Another advantage is that you can change the fitting if you get a different machine in the future.

I picked up the Autobrite HD lance for ££20 used on detailingworld forum,

There is a member on that forum who says these lances are pretty much all made in the same factory, try hoses direct there only £29 or check out detailing world, I'm on my phone or I'd post a link for you

Iv just used mine for the 2nd time today with magifoam, it's really thick and dwells for ages but I wouldn't say my car was much cleaner for it, also a nilfisk c110 owner

You have to bare in mind that the foam isn't really there to clean the car, but rather its there to trap the loose dust and dirt on the car, so when you blast it off with the pressure washer, all youre left with when you come to hand wash the car is traffic film. So it's mote about safety than anything else. Plus, it's fun.

I'm glad you've popped up here, Francis.

Have you got any preference for any of the lances in my opening post?

To be honest, they are pretty much the same thing, though I'd be looking to spend around 40 quid. The autobrite had lance and magifoam is a good shop.

0.5l not 5l for £40 but either way its what I use and recommend it. I use magifoam a lot more concentrated that 1:200 though - more like 1:5 to get a good foam

I bought this from Halfords but the Snow Foam adapter is 'Pants'. I bought a Karcher Snow Foam canister but the connection is different to the Halfords one. Can anyone tell from the picture below what type of connection it is so I can order the right adaptor? It is the Halfords HP1400.

For ten quid, Halfords have just started selling these, although with mixed reviews. Perhaps a more simple solution?

Thanks for the heads-up. 'Deal 1' (£40) now ordered and it should be with me in a couple of days.

And like Jon said, it comes with 500ml of Magifoam, not the 5l. But that's no drama because I've already got 5l waiting for me from a previous purchase.
