Hi all,

I am new on Aston forum as i just purchased a 2010 Aston.

Loving it so far and its my dream spec: its a 2010 LE,morning frost white,v12 wheels, carbon backed lightweight seats,700watt stereo,blue-tooth,n-400 seals, carbon front and back diffusers, 10 on the clock.

After owning several BMW'S and Porsche i am a little shocked by the Aston's build quality, here are a few things i picked up on.

1. The rear parcel shelf has very flimsy plastic lugs that hold it in place, one has snapped, is this something that can be fixed? does the parcel shelf come apart so i can get to them?

2. I do not like the 3 plastic buttons on the dash (manual), is there any where to get the glass ones apart from Aston Martin?

3. The info/stereo screen just below the start button seems to have a protective film on it, it seems matt and not shiny, also there is dust in-between or inside the plastic face, should they not be shiny?

4. Where the seat belts come out from the car there are Aluminium runners they are starting to corrode a little should clean these with a metal polish??

5. Where the start button is split in two, the top half (START) the sticker seems to have come away a little and needs a new one, is this a normal Aston thing?

6. I dropped the Emotional control unit!! already frown i see them for sale on ebay etc, is it easy/cheap to get one reprogrammed?

7. Where the last owner had rings on, the aluminium surround on the gear lever is a little marked, how easy is this to change? has any one done it?

Thank you for all your answers in advance, the car is 99% there i just need to get all these niggles done as my OCD cant take it......

1. My parel shelf has metal lugs MY2006. No it doesn't come apart put you have to pull the tab to 'unlock' it and slide it out.
2. Glass buttons are AM only. So its a dealer or an Indy such as BR.
3. Mine is shiny, no dust behind it
4. No idea, never had to clean / polish my ones.
5. Not normal
6. AM dealer job, so wont be cheap
7. Its not the easiest job to replace gear levr or the surround. Do a search there are pictures of people doing it.

In a Neil1300r stylie.....

1. My parel shelf has plastic lugs (2011). You pull the shelf back to unlock it. My old 2007MY had a release tab. Old way was better.
2. Glass buttons are AM only. Try your local dealer or Nicholas Mee.http://www.astonstore.co.uk/product/V8_Vantage_Manual_Glass_Switch_Kit_AD33-V809-MAN
3. Mine is matt, no dust behind it
4. I've had this white oxide in the past. It just polishes off, never came back.
5. Not normal, replacement parts easy enough to sort from AM.
6. AM dealer to reprogram. I feel for you.....
7. Remove the armrest, remove the flat centre plate that has the gear surround on, unhitch gearknob.
Undo screws holding on surround and replace or polish.
Not a big job if you know where all the fasteners are. I'd say it will be out in less than an hour from start to finish if you know how. I've done it loads of times to wire in electrickery.

And if you make your first post about your Aston a comparison of build quality between it and a Porsche, expect someone to post a picture of a burning GT3 to bring some perspective about a previously snapped plastic lug.

6. ECU reprogramme is a quick dealer job so nominal charge or FOC if done at the time of service. BUT you MUST have the correct codes for the ECU you buy and you must ensure is the correct frequency for UK market cars.

Thank you for all the replies,

Parcel shelf being replaced under warranty,
Button being replaced with carbon gear lever surround and carbon ski slope at the same time,
The seat belt hoops cleaned perfectly thank you,
Radio/info screen being replaced under warranty,

Just one more thing the stereo unit it's self: the orange lights are on heating air con etc, but all the other stereo buttons CD player and clock are all dark, should there be lights behind it?

Thank you again..
