Looks like our new engines are not that far away! Have a look at the new AMG GT. 4 ltr V8 twin turbo circa 500BHP with a load more torque than the current AM V8. Plus the rumour of a 600 BHP model. Any concerns about the sound produced should not be worried . There is a video of the new GT being tested at the Nurburgring, sounds really rather good. I for one hope Gaydon are getting things sorted rather than building a continuous stream of specials.

New Vantage not planned until 2017. Engine deal with Ford until at least 2017 IIRCThink it will be couple of years before we see an AMG lump in a production Aston.
So it will be a continuous stream of 'specials', where even us affecionardos will struggle to spot the difference.

Unable to play through my surround sound system, so that might be why I missed it.
I could not hear any exhaust sound, only tyre squealing and the noise of repeatedly driving over the ridged rumble kerbing.
Is the absence of a prominent exhaust sound, due to this 'wonderful' new world of twin turbocharging?
Do they still make the hissing wastegate discharge sound (aka Sierra Cosworth), just as maximum engine revs are reached?

Compared to what? Sounds pretty flaccid to me, rather like the new F1 sound (or more accurately, lack thereof). If that's what Vantage buyers have to look forward to, I think they'll be hanging on to their current motors for a good while longer. Of course, I've never liked the AMG 'house' sound; just a lot of bloated 'fart can' noise to me. Astons, V8 and V12, are miles ahead, sound wise.http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/amg-tobias-moer...
Don't ask why I was looking but the public view from AMG (I don't think Ive seen it posted here before)

Bentley have stated that by the end of this decade 90% of their production will be available as a hybrid. Think it will be couple of years before we see an AMG lump in a production Aston.

AMG have confirmed that hybrid engines will feature in their model range. No doubt interesting times are ahead and underlines the need for a partner who has access to the latest technology for AML to thrive.
AML reliance and appetite will only increase as time goes by and as we know if your dancing it's better to lead than follow*
- Edited from the coarse version as it's the Aston forum.
I predict they produce a special for the next James Bond film due for release in October 2015
something easy; lets call it a Vanquish S Ultimate with some sort of tweaked V12 engine
a last hurrah for normal aspiration before we move into the forced induction, turbo hybrid, sounds like a washing machine, era
600bhp from a V12 sounds like a familar bhp number for runout models - remember the Vantage V600

Here's the situation: Rob is at home, I am 5 miles away at the office. Time for a quick check up on PH before (the other) his lordship arrives in the office. Uh-oh - what's that Rob has posted? That post needs a link to make any sense. Quick search. Do what I can & post up link just as the boss walks in. One of these days I am going to get that wrong!
Moral of the story - all you blokes with the loyal-mrs-sensible-secretary running the office for you - are you sure thats what she is doing? Actually she might be doing the same as you - sneaking onto PH when you think no-one is looking

Friend of mine is a some quality bigwig for Ford dealing with the Aston engine production in Cologne. He went to Cologne a few weeks ago and had a briefing on the GT. His text to me said the following:
''Just out of a meeting to agree the euro base model of the GT and it's way under powered! Funny that!''
Now I'm not to sure if he meant the Aston GT or the AMG GT? He's on holiday at the moment so its I can't confirm. Either way it is driving me nuts
500HP seems quite acceptable in my eyes!

There wasn't much to miss imo, standard AMG V8 sound albeit heavily muffled. Still, even if it wasn't muffled, I'm not sure why anyone would want their Aston to just sound like another Merc.
Exactly.
I might be dreaming this, but I can recall seeing a video, about a man who was commissioned to tune (musically) the exhaust sound, of a Gaydon Aston Martin whilst the car was under development.
An important and enjoyable feature for many of us.
