Won't be long now! I reckon that we will have a mock up of the new Vantage come the Autumn. Plus a choice of 3 AMG engines. Gaydon are well advanced with the new platform.robgt said:

The V8V was announced on 6 Jan 2003, which was over two years before production began, and even before the DB9 was announced (which went in to production before the Vantage).Presumably that was so very early, because it did not replace an existing model.
If the next Vantage is announced too soon, obviously present model sales will suffer.
It is rumoured that the DB9 replacement will be the first of the new models.
Autocar reckon that it might look like this.
To me, the grille looks very low (down in the mouth) in comparison to the bonnet height. Certainly does not comply with that famous two thirds rule.
Any comments on the appearance?
I posted this on 6-speed a few weeks ago:
Let's hope that the new AMG-powered Astons don't sound like this. I, for one, am not impressed:

If I am quick, I might just get this one in before 'avinalarf`.
Remember that old chestnut about the Aston Martin V12 engine, being two Mondeo engines stuck together.
Well, I see that the bore and stroke of the AMG engine, is identical to the four cylinder 2 litre Mercedes A-Class.
So the new Aston Martin V8 is two ..... you've got the joke now.
We could just cut and paste a few hundred posts on this one!
I watched a YouTube video by chris harris comparing a Bentley continental gt speed with an audi s4 and a manufacturers DNA - I think it sums up the debate and fears pretty well

I have no doubt that any newly-developed AMG unit will be a masterpiece, and that developing a competitive and reliable engine is beyond the grasp of a small company on a limited budget (if only TVR understood that), but it would still be nice to know that the engine of an Aston Martin were British-designed, and assembled by a time-served chap called Brian or Ken wearing half-moon specs, and with a micrometer and Zeus book in the top pocket of his brown smock.

Where have you been for the last 10 years???AM engines haven't been built in the UK since 2004. And the previous generations of AM engines were designed by a Pole!

I thought we'd recently heard (or guessed) that the new db9 was the next new model and not until 2017? Merc will want their pound of flesh out that engine before AM get it too.
Sounds about the right kind of realistic timescales to get a new car out of the door with the new engine...no doubt some positive press will be released from time to time to build interest in the motoring press.....Massive fans of the amg n/a engines and thought the e63 n/a sublime.
All the road tests reckoned the amg turbocharged engine was as good, but when I drove the e63 with the 5.5 turbo engine I was disappointed ,a noticeable lack of response compared to the previous n/a engine and a mile behind the responsiveness of the Aston v12.
Maybe it was the combo of turbocharging and auto box which creates that delay when you put your foot down ?
In fact not impressed with any of these new turbocharged engines ,the performance and consumption figures are impressive but to drive give me an n/a engine.
