...to swap the centre console of an early model vantage so that it has the newer design of the later model vantages?

This is what I had in mind - piano black facia from the ski slope to the armrest (including the newer style armrest)

Has anyone done / looked into doing this?

Frankly, I'd sooner prefer to upgrade to a newer model car - V12V firmly in mind - but alas I'm not allowed to do so until I purchase a new home which maybe later in the year or next. So for the time being, I'm very fortunate to still be driving my V8 (which I love) but I thought an interior refresh might help relieve that itch until that new car is back on the agenda.

Cheers

I seem to recall that somebody has done it before. I'm pretty sure that I read a thread about it on either the AMOC forum or 6speedonline.com. Unfortunately, my various searches aren't producing the thread though. frown

Either way, it's a biiig job. Don't forget that you won't just be changing the centre console. The ignition system also has to be changed (to accommodate the 'ECU').

I'm sure Work Service would be able to relieve you of lots of money to do it.

I'm sure they would, at a reasonable price smile

I looked into this on my old 4.3, the AML Technical Service Project engineer replied with the below to my enquiry:

Aston Martin said:
This is a major task as you would need to replace a large amount of components and in addition there would need to be a significant amount of re-work to the console in order to make the new part fit.
I guess the biggest issue is the cabin harness would need replacing due to the new centre stack and facia harnesses also being required.
Can I recommend that this is financially not a viable option.

That's really helpful, thanks.

And not at all encouraging! So that's that idea binned. Damn it.

That's a good question, which had crossed my mind, but never done anything about it.

In my experience the reply from works service is a standard response to more or less anything that you want to change or update, so i would not be sure its as difficult or as expensive as they suggest.

Also why would you need to change the starter button, I would have thought you can leave the existing one in place as I don't think you'd need to change the top of the ski slope, but I may be wrong.
