Sorry if this has been done to death elsewhere but I couldn't find anything in the search results.

My 2006 v8v is coming up to its 8 yr service with c.32,000 miles. Can someone give me an indication on likely cost before I call up my local dealer? Any big items I should be concerned about?

Thanks

Around £1,500 at a main AM dealer and around £1,200 at an independent that can use the AM stamp.

That seems very high. Is the 8yr a big one?

After 8 years I think it's time for a std garage if a independent isn't available. Stamp the book if there is room but I can't see it haven't a negative effect should you come to sell.

+1.

When I recently traded in my DB7VV they never even mentioned the service history.

The prices I gave are current quotes for London, for an 8 year service. The annual service seems to be about £100 more expensive for each additional year, more or less.

The FAQs say up to £1,200 at a main dealer (e.g. Stratstone), that's probably right outside London, you won't get much cheaper. £450 at an independent seems too low - in April, I had a quote from a non-London, non-AM-authorized but good independent of £700 for a 7 year service.

Just had mine done at the local AM dealer for £770 after a bit of negotiation and agreement that the transmission oil didn't need changing as they only did it 3 years ago as part of the service bulletin for the stiff first to second gear change.

Cheapest dealer quote I got was initially £1100 from only Scottish dealer. They came down to £980 after some haggling.
Found a great Independant £455 incl brake fluid change. They had a few DB7's in as well when I was there. Very happy and will be going back.

Am I missing something here? £595 at main dealer through http://www.servicethecar.com/ . Did this last year and the car was done at Grange Exeter - and they picked the car up and dropped it off.

Good find, a quick search revealed 3 main dealers for the V8V 8 year service:-

Grange £702
JCT600 £572
Chiltern £608

Could be used as negotiating tool with your local dealer if nothing else.

Not PK. I used Lorimer and Findlay in Glasgow.
Very happy with the service

Grange (and others) will do the service for £650-700.
This won't include plugs. Plugs are normally done at 7 years, but many people leave them if the car is low mileage.
I doubt it would include gearbox oil change - not sure when this is scheduled.

For an 06 V8V plugs are every 70000 miles so very few cars will require them at the 7 or 8 year service. Transmission oil is every 4 years (or 40000 miles whichever comes sooner) so should be part of the 8 year service.
