Rich,
To answer your question the Spitfires came from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight stationed at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, LN4 4SY.
The Camouflaged Spit was a MK 9 powered by a Merlin Engine and was flown by "Parky" Tony Parkinson MBE, the Blue Spitfire was a MK19 and was powered by
a Griffen power plant and was flown by Andy Millikin.
Both Aircraft along with an amazing collection of others including the Lancaster can be visited at Coningsby where a fantastic outing can be had.
Take a peep www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/
I'm lucky as Parky and his gang are regularly p*ssing about above my back garden, so its a free display most weekends during the season.
Come down and have a visit its brill, shiver down the spine, stiff upper lip and all that……..
