V8 Vantage 200 Cell Cats Problem *images Below
Discussion
So standard is 45.4cm and yours are 44.8cm. Did they try slackening the center pipe abit and giving it a slight lever towards the cats as there is plenty of play so to speak in the rubbers as well as initially having to push them back in the first place for the original cat to drop out of the recess at the center pipe side.
And 4 hours!! Flaming heck do they know how to use a ratchet and spanner. An hour tops and that's being generous. A 3 bolt flange on each cat, a clamp at the other end and a sensor to unbolt on each. Ridiculous.

They have just seen an Aston Martin owner arrive and taken you for a ride.
Sorry, but its that simple.
And that gap shown in the pic is more than 6mm. I suspect they needed rotating slightly to get the alignment correct unless they are perfectly straight?
Are they the only cats on the car? If not, you could have just fitted a pair of straight through tubes if they do not have pre and post cat sensors.

Hello Chaps,
Not sure if this is the right place to be posting so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong section.
I bought a 2007 V8 Vantage last week and love it to bits.
I've read the many topics about how easy it is to increase power to the underpowered 4.3 V8V with a full stainless exhaust and 200 cell cats, so on Friday I bought some unbranded / custom cell cats from a exhaust maker and on Saturday booked the car into my local 'prestige' car garage to have them fitted.
Long story short the garage says they won't fit (kindly charged me 4 hours labor) the company who supplied them says they do ... *sigh
So I've got some pictures below, can anyone help me? I need to establish who is wrong ... do you think the cats fit or have I been had by the garage?
I have absolutely no mechanical knowledge so any help or comment much is appreciated.
Thanks
CJ
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm doing the exact same upgrade as you at the moment using some universal cats and I'm really struggling to find the rolled ball joint style couplings that weld onto the end of the cat to connect the cats wth the centre pipes. Can I ask where you got yours from? Not sure if this is the right place to be posting so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong section.

Old thread resurrection - however, if anyone is having issues swapping over cats, the centre section and silencer need to be pushed back, by levering the silencer back. Use the anti roll bar as a lever point (use a cloth to protect the ARB if you're like me !). This gives clearance to get the old cats off the studs at the front.
Fitting 200 cell or original (if swapping back), means you need to push the silencer and centre section forward, once the cat has been mounted on the front studs. This closes the gap between cat rolled flange and centre section which the OP was having issues with.
