Its good that you have a volunteer already. Lack of local knowledge shouldn't be a hindrance to leading a group, it didn't in Wales this year, or any other run for that matter. As long as the route is made available to whoever is doing it a bit beforehand, some revision can be done and all should be well.However, my original plea for a local AM/PH'er still stands. If you can get in touch, it's much appreciated.

Recce run done today. Also visited a couple of hotels.
First draft of the route, binned!
First hotel, very accommodating, but the rooms weren't quite up to scratch.
Second hotel, was great! Just waiting on their events co-ordinator to get in touch and see if we can get a deal together and make sure they have enough free rooms.

Enjoy the planning & don't get stressed. Hope all works out well as there's quite a bunch of us down south who are really looking forward to this now
My tip is don't share too much info on the internet in case it trips you up later. Now that you have a nice list of people who want to join in just pm the details and if they book themselves in at the hotel then they are in. You will get people dropping out but make sure its their problem not yours.
Route recce's are the best bit aren't they
PS Once we have a firm plan I wouldn't be surprised if some of us might drive half way oop north the previous day and maybe have a pre-hoon stopover enroute

I'll make sure I don't "check-in" anywhere when I'm doing the recce's and just drop the odd snippet to whet appetites.
If you guys are heading up the night before, do let us know. We might drive down to meet you?

I've been once before. It's a long road down and the alternate route isn't as quick iirc.
That's the hotel sorted.
Just some minor points to agree with them and I'll post the details in the next day, or so.
It's a gorgeous venue, and I've managed to negotiate a discount. However, it's a little more expensive than the Metropole.
We will have our own parking area, and the hotel has it's own pool and spa if anyone wants to stay in the hotel on the saturday rather than come on the run.
