"Romi" has now become "James", for reasons that will become clear ( that don't involve changes of sex, sexuality or marital status...).

There's been some discussion on and offline about breaking up the journey to Pitlochry. It's a fairly long haul for some, particularly if the motorways misbehave, and none of us want to be travel weary on the day of Scott's excellent looking hoon.

So, to make for a more relaxed day on the Friday I've been looking at suitable hotels around the Lake District for Thursday 16th. If there are enough of us it may well be possible to strike a deal for bed, breakfast and an evening meal and I'm happy to do the honours and post up a couple of options. I'd be looking for the usual levels of comfort, food and secure parking of course.

Form an orderly list below please... smile

Alas no, Felipe, although I did hear from James C last week and all seems well with him and Emily. He's recently added the BR switchable suspension to his '9 and seems to be falling down the slippery (and costly) modification slope smile

The James referenced above is a former colleague and fellow petrol head. He drives a 911 Turbo but will be leaving that at home to experience the class and refinement of a chavved-up Vantage biggrindriving

Bump! Just keeping this visible for others who may want to join in the en route stopover. I'll be ringing around likely hotels this coming week so need the total numbers. Thanks.

Hi Ian

Sorry if you have already been working away on ideas for the "Thursday drive up crew":

I had a thought to throw out to you for Friday, if we were to get up to as far as Glasgow area for Thursday night, we could then have a nice scenic drive the next day to Pitlochry. (I would like BigScotty to give his blessing that this Google Maps route and area to travel to, could be nice?) here is a possible route:

Hi William!

If I may be so bold, it would really be better if you came to Pitlochry a different route lmfao!!!

In fact, if you're getting to Glasgow, why not meet me at the big layby after the Forth Road Bridge and I will take you guys up along a less travelled route?

Of course, you're free to use the route you've selected, but you might see a part of it again on Saturday rotate

In other news, I will be pinging everyone in the next day or so with some more info wink

Cheers!

Scots are always bold and brave characters and always welcome smile ! Thanks for the heads up for a route re-think!
You live near Edinburgh right? Were you thinking of a little drive somewhere out east?
Is this the area for us to meet you Friday morning?

Thanks Will,

I'd suggest you guys come along the M8, and cross the Forth Bridge. There's a huge layby just after where I can meet you and I'll gather you up and head to St Andrews for a nice coffee. Then over the Tay Bridge and up to Blairgowrie.

I'm at work right now, so unable to plot the route I'm thinking about. I'll try and fling something together after I've been to the gym tonight, and ping it to you off the forum.

Will, overnighting near Glasgow is fine by mesmile it's another 130+ miles from the original stopover at the Lake District, but if it's ok with the others shout (Dave, Martyn and partners)??, we could certainly do that.

Alternatively, as the hoon you had in mind is partly planned for Saturday, and if we're meeting Scotty for a 'bit of a drive' on the Friday (and drinks at St Andrews, what could be more civilised?) we could miss out the M8 (always a good idea) and head for Edinburgh. We just need to sort this out in principle so that I know where to look for hotels - we can plan something interesting for Friday morning's route separately. E.G. From experience, the A7 from Carlisle to Edinburgh can be fun.

So, options so far for Thursday's stopover are Glasgow, Edinburgh or somewhere en route. Preferences and/or more thoughts?

Hi Ian, I am liking your ideas, lets discuss on PM tonight with the others and Scotty smile
