4.7 Vantage Sport Cats
Discussion
I have fitted the Bamford Rose cats with the three way switch and I think it has transformed the car . The sound is epic but not to loud and you do not have to rev the car too much to get a lovely deep sound. On a recent run out with guys in a V12 Vantage and a DBS they could not believe the noise it made
Justin, as you know Dave and I changed the cats in our 4.3 Vantages to 200 cell sports cats from R S Fabrications.
No idea whether they are different from the 4.7 cats but it IS what you want to do and you will get exactly what you are looking for from the change. Dave added a remote switch to operate the fuse which controls the exhaust valve to give a semi-quieter noise when required, but on full chat, the change transforms the sound from Great to Freekin Awesome.

Darren is spot on, i have followed him in my DBS several times and his car sounds the absolute bks. I have had rear cat deletes in my dbs but i think Darrens V8 sounds much better than my V12.
BR do some fantastic work with the V8 soundtrack i have to admit.
Some things are a must, cat deletes in a V12 and BR cat deletes in a V8 are two of the 'must do's' in life.
I wnat to add that i am not a BR fan boy but have to give credit where credit is due, they do an epic job in this department.
I had the BR 200 cell sports cats on my 4.7 V8V and it transformed the car. Like the OP I wasn't satisfied with the noise from the OEM exhaust system. Admittedly I did also change the manifolds but it was really the change in cats that produced the improvement in sound whist the manifolds upped the performance. I know that the BR sports cats also fitted the 4.3 as mine went down that route with Bins when I changed my car. If you also add the switch for the bypass valves you can reduce the noise if you don't want it. It was the best change I could have made to my V8V and gave me exactly the soundtrack I was looking for.

Afternoon, has any one fitted either Sport Cats or De Cats to their 4.7 V8?
Any thoughts?
Im finding the car quite quiet inside. Glorious noise, but not quite loud enough
Daft question maybe, but do they differ from 4.3 sport cats?
It depends upon the year. The early 4.7's have the same cat configuration as the 4.3L cars: A cat-less manifolds an the primary & secondary both combined into one unit as in the photos someone else posted in this thread. 2009 definitely has these cats. I *think* the changeover to the new style was around 2010.5, but certainly by 2011.Any thoughts?

At that point, the primary cat was moved into the manifold, and the secondary was left in the original position in the tunnel (with no pre/post cat O2 monitoring.) So on a late model car, you could put sports cats, or even decat pipes in where the secondaries are located with no emissions warnings.
To replace the primaries on a late model 4.7L you have to go whole hog and change the manifolds at the same time as the secondaries.

My January 2011 car has the secondary cats with no monitors and I'm having them replaced later this with with straight through decat pipes
Just resurrecting this thread as my new (to me) 4.7 Roadster is a little too quiet, even fuse out, compared with my old 4.3.
So I can find cat replacement pipes for under £400, anyone done this and happy with the results ? (not the cats on the manifold) any trouble at MOT time passing emissions with secondary cats missing ?
Other option, found a nice Larini sports back box, with vacuum fittings, so you keep the on/off option and get more volume, or sports cats and/or both:

Not after a performance gain, doubt I will notice 15bhp anyway, just a bit more volume on the exhaust noise overall.

Mate, this has slipped under my radar! Congratulations on the new steed! Pictures please...... So I can find cat replacement pipes for under £400, anyone done this and happy with the results ? (not the cats on the manifold) any trouble at MOT time passing emissions with secondary cats missing ?

On my 4.7 I have replaced the secondary cats with straight through pipes - no problems with emissions at MOT time and no warning lights on dashboard.Other option, found a nice Larini sports back box, with vacuum fittings, so you keep the on/off option and get more volume, or sports cats and/or both
I also have a sports back box but without vacuum fittings - sound is immense on acceleration but quite civilised when cruising

Having had the pleasure of following LBS on many occasions and through many tunnels I can confirm the sound his car generates is truly immense when he puts the load pedal down.
