Ok after my first fantastic summer tour of the Continent and some truly epic drives I love my Vantage and the way it drives and the how it sounds. However - after coming back to London and just trying to go South to North as directed by SatNav through Sunday evening traffic and remembering what it's really like as a daily driver- I am now officially 'over' my manual fetish.

Aston please bring out a proper 'Auto' or tiptronic Vantage akin to the Jaguar F Type so we can live with it as a daily drive.

Is that a sacrilege position to take on this ?

Yes - if you want an old man's auto box get a DB9 tongue out

Maybe you should go out and buy yourself a Rover...

traditional manual trannies are going the way of the dodo bird.... My next car will be sportshift or auto.

Personally I would never go back to manual. Sportshift fine and perhaps the best of both worlds but would of course be much better if dual clutch

Strange how people differ. I waited 18 months for a manual DB9 with Sports Pack to become available. After 8 years with my XKR I couldn't wait to get in a manual car again.

The Vantage is the only manual car we own. Would I get another? Nope, it would be the SS next time but for me they should go to the Dual Clutch PDK style - our Boxster is superb. We'll see what Merc influence brings smile

Interesting to read peoples thoughts on this, my daily driver has a VW DSG box and to me its perfect for that type of mundane driving but there is no involvement at all from the driver.
Sport shift demands some interaction from the driver to get the best out of it and to me works well in a car that you want to have some fun in.
Don't know how the Porsche system works but in my daily driver you can't block shift down 2 or 3 gears at a time which you can with the SS.
