Welcome to the club, you two yes

Aston ownership is only ever a snapshot in time, albeit a highly fulfilling one - I'm surprised you lasted this long considering your constant flirting with Porsche !!

You only ever get out of a forum what you put in to it and you two deserve the gratitude of many on here. Your input, witticisms, erudition and groping will remain stuff of legend. People will recall the time they were inappropriately overtaken by Rob. Some women recall their first meeting with Rob, others remain in counselling yes

Forums reinvent themselves all the time - 240 or so turn up for Burghley and I'm still awaiting the new Rob, the new Seemon, the new Quinny, the new Cockernee......too many takers of advice, insufficient givers frown

Good luck Rob & Molly...many thanks for your companionship along the way smile

Thanks Jockman. Know exactly what you mean - like you, we shall be watching & waiting for the new characters of the forum to emerge. Mind you, with 36,000 miles of Aston ownership behind us I expect we will still be on hand, like yourself, to offer advice (whether they want it or not wink ).

Nick - not white & not silver but w & s (wait & see)

BTW - unrelated to the thread (& I wouldn't want to take it off topic - heaven forbid!) but Rob's on the wagon!!!! (11 days now!)

Thank you Michael. Wasn't she lovely. Took me a minute to recognise that location & thought for a moment that Rob had been up to no good! However, I think that is outside the Lanesborough where Rob didn't trust the bloke doing the valet parking & went with him hehe

I don't blame you Molly. I can't imagine that you will drift too far from AM, hopefully not for too long.

Rob and Molly, some people drift anonymously in and out of forum life, inputting little and taking a lot. You two, however, have given so much to so many, and the words anonymous and Rob do not coexist in any dictionary. Il'l miss you crazy fools, but you'll always be welcome to any gathering, and I'll be very disappointed if you leave the forum......
Luv Bins xx

Rob & Molly, what a shocker, your going to the dark side with Andy and Jo smile. There I was just trying to convert him the other weekend at Wilton from his GT3 RS to a nice Vantage, now I have got my work cutout! smile Going to miss you guys very much on the forum!
We'll hopefully see you back in 12 months, being lost in the car park of massed produced brands may hopefully be just a temporary fazesmile
Keep us posted on the new car developments in Germany! When I first read your news a minute ago, I first thought Jaguar F Typesmile

Hi Guys wavey

Sad to see you leaving, another of the old guard moving on. However, like me, I bet you keep an eye on this place.

It was great meeting you in Wales and hopefully we will keep in touch, who knows what we will be driving!

For me, funds are such that I was contemplating coming back to the fold.

Then fate would have it that I was loaned an F Type R Coupe.

For my type of driving it is an awesome car and very very tempting.

No decisions made, so we will see.

So, good luck to you both and Au Revoir, not goodbye.

Enjoy the new car.

Thank you all so very much for the kind words. Amanda and I are really touched, we have had some great times with you all.

I should explain that a 991 GT3 is the ONLY car that I would have changed our Aston for. The chance came, I grabbed it. 175 maybe 200 max allocation for the UK only. The very few used examples available are currently fetching a substantial premium over list. Rave reviews from Evo, Chris Harris and all the motoring magazines point to it being an iconic car as are its predecessors. Any 911 GT Porsche be it GT3, GT3RS or GT2 has leapt in value since the launch of the new model. A GT3 is a totally different machine to a standard 911. Comparing it with any AM currently available would be a little unfair.

As I write this I am sitting in my office surrounded by Aston Martin pictures, models and lanyards from our many factory visits. Please do not think that my decision has been an easy one. The sheer emotion that our Astons have filled me with is like no other, not owning one will leave a gap in our lives.

So then, this is not Goodbye but " Au Revoir " wink

Not meaning this in any way to cause offence, but I don't see you and Molly as people that drive cars with big rear wings supported my meccano. I think you are more understated than that and the Aston is an appropriate car, especially in Purdey or Pearl set-up smile

Aston is an everyday car. That GT3 would look odd in Sainsbury's supermarket car park. At home on a track, but not at B&Q!

Having met Rob and talked various cars ( including the 458 ) at Burghley I cannot say I am totally surprised. As a 997GT3 owner ( albeit manual ) as well as my V8 I can say they are truly great cars - just don't expect as much banter from the Porsche forum on PH. Good luck with your purchase - which dealer btw ?
